Thousands evacuate as floods Inundate Bandung homes

Around 15,000 homes in Bandung regency, West Java, were inundated

following heavy rain over the past few days, while more floods and bad weather
are expected throughout the archipelago in the coming week. Bandung regency
Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) chief Marlan said residents in seven districts
who previously insisted on satying in their flooded homes were being evacuated.
ung distribution office Agus Yuswanta said the shutdown affected around 1,800
homes in Parung Halang, Andir, Cigado, Cikarees, Cieunteung and Kulalet. We
will turn on the power once authorities deem it is safe for us to do so,” Agus said.

Flooding occurs because the flow of the river is clogged by the
amount of garbage. Lack of public awaraness about the environment
and make people so unconcorned about the dangers caused. Therefore
we as human beings who have a mind must be able to maintain natural
conditions, because of the fact that we and nature are sustainable with
each other.

Flooding occurs because the river was clogged. The river clogged
because many people discard trash to river. So, the river overflowing.
In addition, cause of flowing is not just trash is clog, but also high
rainfall. Therefore, we must self-conscious, because this incident not
the government fault but our mistake.
3. Vivi’s Comment:
Floods that occurred in Bandung caused by heavy rain for the last
few days. But other causes are caused by the habit of the local people
who dump garbage in the river causing the river to clog up and the
river water overflows. If the habit is not there may be a flood will not
happen, less aware of the importance of keepingthe environment a
major problem.
4. Vilda’s Comment:
Rain that soaked about 15.000 houses in the Bandung caused by
bad weather and high rainfall causing the river water overflowed
couple with the collapse of river banks in Cilleunyi. The government
must immediately take action by fixing the river banks after the floods
subsided and urge people not to dispose garbage in the rivers to
minimize the occurrence of floods.
