This study aims to determine the effectiveness of inquiry learning to improve
the mathematical representation ability of students in Newton's law material in class X MIA Maumere 1 State High School. This type of research is quasi experimental design (quasi-experimental) with pretest-posttest only control group design. Sampling was done using Nonprobability sampling technique, namely purposive random sampling. The sample in this study were students of class X MIA 3 and X MIA4. The ability of mathematical representation of students in this study was collected by a mathematical representation ability test in the form of test essays consisting of 20 test items. The results of the study found that: 1) the average mathematical representation ability of students who took part in learning using the inquiry learning model was 80.05; 2) the average mathematical representation ability of students who take part in learning by using an expository learning model of 68.85) there are significant differences in mathematical representation abilities between learners who use the inquiry learning model and students who learn using the expository learning model. Students who learn using inquiry learning models have better mathematical representation skills than students who learn using expository learning models. Thus, inquiry learning model is effective toward students' mathematical representation abilities.
