Pastoral Response of the Church to Issues Affecting the Family MARRIAGE AND FAMILY
FUNDAMENTAL CHRISTIAN DIMENSION OF THE FAMILY CHRISTIAN DIMENSION OF THE FAMILY
THE HUMAN PERSON needs a FAMILY:
1. THE HUMAN PERSON IS FINITE
• The human person is IMPERFECT • The human person is VULNERABLE • The human person is NOT SELF-SUFFICIENT
We can hardly provide ALL that we
need on the sole account of our own strength CHRISTIAN DIMENSION OF THE FAMILY
THE HUMAN PERSON needs a FAMILY:
2. THE HUMAN PERSON IS GOOD & IS CAPABLE OF RECEIVING GRACE (CAPAX DEI) • All creatures were created GOOD • We are capable of DOING GOOD • We are given FREEDOM and the capacities to cope with our circumstances
Though we sin and are prone to sin, we are NOT defined
by our weakness and sin. Instead, our nature rests on our GOODNESS being creatures and children of God. CHRISTIAN DIMENSION OF THE FAMILY
THE HUMAN PERSON needs a FAMILY:
3. The human person is CAPABLE of LIVING / COMMUNING WITH others • Communion with others is our way of coping with whatever it is that we lack. • The family is our first attempt to bond / commune with others
