Twin Falls Circuit 25 March 2017
Wet, wet, wet and loving it. We went to the Springbrook
plateau to do Twin Falls circuit fully aware that the recent
rains would have engorged the streams and the falls would
be running…we weren’t disappointed. Scuttlebutt café and
Canyon lookout were bypassed as we headed to
Tallanbana picnic ground with shelter shed, toilets and
tables. All suitably doused with Bushman’s or other
“serious” deterrents to keep leeches away we headed off.
It was a little bit wet as we started but we had donned
raincoats and now it seemed that most trickles were
streams and most streams were waterfalls somewhere
along their descent to the valleys.
Comments of – it’s wonderful – I’ve never seen so many
waterfalls – this is fantastic – it’s definitely worth it – gave
a hint to the slow progress we were making as we each
wanted our own catalogue of water views from above,
beside, and underneath on our own phone or camera.
We eased up at the shelter of a large cave and got out
snacks or such for our morning tea break. There had been
so much conversation along the way we had hardly realised
we were already half way and still the falls surprised us with
their variety. Plenty of photos and a video or two will be on
Facebook tonight you can be sure. Other walkers passed
us in twos and threes and even a gentleman from BBW
(who recalled dancing with Mary at Pilgrimage) was
enjoying the wet, wet, wet conditions. This was a suitably
gentle walk for many and it fulfilled the requirements to
enrich the soul, quieten the spirit and develop the appetite Twin Falls Photo: Marion Laban
