About the PSE

The Philippine Stock Exchange, Inc. (PSE or


Exchange) is a private organization that
provides and ensures a fair, efficient,
transparent and orderly market for the
buying and selling of securities.

Manila and Makati Stock Exchanges

Manila Stock Exchange (MSE)

founded in March 1927;


first stock exchange in the Philippines
and one of the oldest in Asia

Makati Stock Exchange (MkSE)

established in May 1963; the second


bourse to operate in the country

Incorporation of the PSE

December 23, 1992 marked a milestone


for the Philippine capital markets when
the MSE and MkSE were unified to
become the PSE.

In June 1998, the Securities and


Exchange Commission conferred to the
PSE the status of a Self-Regulatory
Organization.

Other Highlights

In 2001, or a year after the Securities Regulation Code of 2000 was


enacted, the PSE was reorganized and transformed from a non-stock,
member-governed organization into a shareholder-based, revenue-
generating corporation.

On December 15, 2003, PSE shares were listed by way of introduction.

In 2004, the PSE acquired the Securities Clearing Corporation of the


Philippines to become its wholly owned subsidiary.

The PSE is the watchdog of the stock market. It closely regulates and monitors all stock
market transactions.

Companies : support a reliable environment for new and existing


equity issuances

Stockbrokers : maintain and enhance as needed the market regulation of


trading participants

Investors : encourage investments and protect the local and foreign


investor base

As a Company

The PSE today is a publicly listed company with a stable shareholder base.
It is revenue-earning and managed with the rule of good governance and
the highest corporate standards.

The Exchange strives to make efficient use of the company’s resources


and remains steadfast in pursuing reforms and initiatives that are geared
towards improving investor confidence and enhancing shareholder value.

The PSE has lined up key programs for the stock market and push the
