Research Assistant, Microvascular Transport Lab, Dr. Norman R. Harris

 Designed and implemented a research project to investigate the role of nitric oxide and
white blood cells in the control of capillary blood flow; with special focus on the effect of
high cholesterol levels and diabetes on the microcirculation of the rat mesentery.

 Used several techniques to measure various properties of blood and plasma samples like
cholesterol and glucose levels, nitrite and nitrate levels, white blood cell count, glycated
hemoglobin content etc.

 Developed a new analysis parameter by modeling the diffusion between arterioles and
venules using finite element analysis.

 Currently working on a technique to measure nitric oxide levels in-vivo using fluorescence
microscopy, and study the effect of leukocyte adherence on nitric oxide levels in normal as
well as diabetic rats.
