INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY GRANT PROPOSAL

Name of Applicant: Trae Jones

District/School: Hart County School System/Hart County High School

Date: 4/29/18

Total Cost of Project: $192.68

Title of Project: Flipgrid Fanatic Filming Supplies

To what organization will you submit this grant application in the future?: Hart EMC Bright
Ideas

I. Why is this project important?

a. This project is essential to the incorporation of technology for instruction in my
classroom at Hart County High School. I have used Flipgrid consistently throughout the
2017-18 school year; however, I have run into a few issues with regards to students being
able to record their videos in an environment that is not distracting to them.

I have had to resort to having students go into the hallway or outside to record their
videos due to the number of students in the classroom and the amount of noise all around
them while recording. Another issue I have seen is the lack of ability to control the
recording device in a way that the audience can view the students work in a way that the
camera work is not distracting to the viewer.

II. What would you like to accomplish?

a. With this project, I would like to alleviate attention that is negatively gained in students’
videos through conversations overheard or the lack of camera work abilities by the
filming student. Having the ability to purchase 4 pop-up pods and 4 iPhone tripod stands,
I would definitely be able to accomplish my goal.

III. In what ways is this project an example of exemplary technology integration?

a. This project allows me to use video recording for the purposes of students showing
exemplary work, review of concepts, and also allowing students to express their opinions
via video. In addition to these positives for students, it also gives them the ability to

connect with one another in a social media type setting. The purchases made through this
grant will allow me to complete this more often in my classroom and also complete this
with better classroom management as students will be able to complete it within the
classroom instead of out of my view.

IV. How will you complete the work?

A. Describe how the instructional objectives/project outcomes will be met.

a. The first way the outcomes will be met are through better classroom management
abilities. I will be able to monitor students who are still in my view and classroom more
diligently than ones outside my classroom. This is also one of my biggest concerns with
using Flipgrid more often than I currently use it; so, with the purchases of the pop-up
pods and camera tri-pods I will be utilizing Flipgrid more often.

B. Describe the time involved (project length including amount of time each day/week).
a. With the purchases of this grant, I will be able to utilize Flipgrid more often than I
currently do. Currently, I utilize Flipgrid 2-3 times per week.

C. Describe the people involved (grade level/subject & # of students, teachers and/or staff, other
stakeholders).
a. All students in my classes will be involved in the use of these products. My classes
consist of students from grades 9-12 at Hart County High School.

D. Describe the materials needed for the project.

a. 4 iPhone Tri-pod stands: https://goo.gl/QXwbJJ
b. 4 Pop-up pods: https://goo.gl/ARLprk

V. What is the timeline for assessing accomplishments and objectives/project outcomes?

a. The timeline for assessing outcomes will be throughout the entire school year as the
project will encompass the 2018-19 school year and beyond. One way I can show the
successful completion of the goals stated is through the statistics provided by Flipgrid on
my uses and amount of time utilized through Flipgrid.

VI. How will the students be impacted by the project?

a. Students will be impacted as the products described in the grant will give the students
more privacy in recording their videos; hereby giving more sense of ownership in the
work they produce.

A. Materials/supplies
a. None
B. Equipment
a. 4 iPhone Tri-pod stands: https://goo.gl/QXwbJJ
