Exercise on Data Visualization

Q1. Assume that your task is to give some important insights to your client who is dealing
with Telecom Business. The data is attached. You are required to give insights using simple
excel charts. Choice of charting option is important so that insights can be visualized properly
and aesthetically.

1. A chart depicting top 10 stores with their sales figure

2. A chart depicting average sales figure per weekday
3. Two pie charts showing the effect of school holiday on sales when promotion is there
and when promotion is not there. Make inferences from the chart.
4. A chart showing top 10 stores where average customer spending is high
5. Prepare a radar chart depicting monthly performance of top 5 busiest stores
6. How have the stores performed in terms of sales when different types of school
holidays were declared? Focus on the top 10 stores. Infer from the chart.
7. Considering the first 20 observations, create a line diagram (with marks) showing
sales and customer visit. Make sure that the graphs are visible properly.

Q2. Attempt the following:

a. Prepare a combination chart depicting actual sale as bar diagram and projected sale as
a trend line. Give proper title and the series information should be placed at the
bottom.
b. Create a small dashboard depicting bar diagram of top five vehicles in terms of
mileage which depends on the origin.

Q3. The dataset is a simulated dataset containing stock prices of a company. Create control
chart for the movement of stock price. The chart should contain mean value and upper
and lower control line separated by 2 std deviation from the mean.

Q4. An online company has given you a dataset from which you are required to build a
custom dashboard. Create a dashboard showing product-wise analysis such that for a
single product, the dashboard shows top 3 payment type and top 5 countries. Moreover,
identify top 5 countries (in terms of number of purchase of products) and show
distribution of product sale in those countries using pie chart. This should also be a part
of the dashboard and should be dynamic.

Q5. Attempt the two problems:

a. Refer to dataset in question number 2 (b). Prepare a bubble chart showing cylinders in
the X axis, average weight of vehicles (for respective cylinders) in Y axis and size of
bubble as average mileage for those vehicles. Give full labeling of the chart.

b. Based on data for Q4 create a bar diagram which would show the distribution of
number of sales with respect to hours. X axis would be 0,1,2,3,…up to 24 and Y axis
should be the number of orders placed. Mark busiest hour.

Q6. Based on the dataset given, prepare graphs showing the outcome of the campaigns. Give
inferences from the outcomes.

Q7. The following bar diagram shows the registration of cars and total vehicles during first

B. 10000

D.37000

reference tp bar chart, histogram, box plot, scatter plot and bubble plot.
