We are grateful to those
who give of their time and
care to bring Holy Com-
munion to our parishioners
who cannot make it to
church due to sickness or infirmity. If you know of
anyone who would like to receive communion in
their home or while hospitalized at West Lincoln
Hospital, please contact the parish office.
SANCTUARY LAMP
We have openings for the Sanctuary Lamp in 2019.
If you would like to book a particular week in
memory of your loved one, please contact the office
sooner rather than later as the year is filling up. Cost
is $35 per week.

HEALING MINISTRY SUPPORT GROUP
For persons separated or divorced: would it
help you to have people around you to un-
derstand what you're going through? Would
you like to hear some ideas that will en-
courage you and help you to develop new
ways of coping with the stresses in your life? The St.
Catharines Diocese support group meets every sec-

While Pope Francis visited a
parish in Rome, a young boy
named Emanuele asked if his
late father, an atheist, was in
heaven. When he began to cry,
the pope invited the boy to
whisper into the pope’s ear.
With permission, Francis shared their conversation:
“A boy that inherited the strength of his father also
had the courage to cry in front of all of us. If this
man was able to create children like this, it’s true that
he is a good man… That man did not have the gift of
faith. He wasn’t a believer, but he had his children
baptized. He had a good heart.” The pope asked the
group if they thought God would abandon a good
man. The children of the parish shouted: “No.” Then
the pope said: “There, Emanuele, that is the answer.”

MCNALLY HOUSE HOSPICE
CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP
McNally House Hospice is once again hosting a
Caregivers Support Group this September 2018. An-
yone caring for an ill loved one can sign up!
It is a free 6 week program geared towards support-
ing those who are doing the most selfless job: caring
for a spouse, parent, child or friend. The program is
geared to create a safe space to talk with others expe-
riencing the same challenges in a similar situa-
tion. Please note that this is not an educational work-
shop, but purely a support group. Starts: Monday
September 17th from 2pm – 3:30pm. It runs for 6
weeks, excluding Thanksgiving Monday. To regis-

A Memorial Mass, presided by Most Reverend
Gerard Bergie, will be celebrated for Sister Jacquel-
ine DesRoches at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of
Alexandria on Wednesday, September 12th at 7 p.m.
Sister Jacqueline died on July 11th in Kingston, On-
tario. She spent 18 wonderful years serving the peo-
ple of St Catharines at Hotel Dieu Hospital and Hotel
Dieu Shaver until her retirement in 2014.
MASS OF PENANCE AND HEALING
As part of our observance of the 60th anni-
versary of our diocese, a Mass of Penance
and Healing will be celebrated this Friday,
September 14 -- the feast of the Exaltation
of the Holy Cross -- at 7:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of
St. Catherine of Alexandria.
Bishop Bergie will pray for all those harmed by sin-
ful actions in the history of our diocese and, in a spir-
it of repentance, will seek forgiveness and God's
mercy. During our anniversary we need to celebrate
the good, and also acknowledge the pain that is part
of our history. At this Mass we will pray for God's
healing as we focus on the Cross, which is the great-
est sign of God's love.
