”COMMUNICATION IN SCHOOL”

Communication is a process of conveying messages from one person to another within

and across channels, contexts, media, and cultures. This definition clearly shows the connection
between ‘teaching’ and ‘communication’. Teachers transmit information to their students by the
use of verbal and nonverbal communication.

Communication occurred in our classroom (context) where our teachers share new
knowledge to us through written or spoken words and actions at the same time. The flow of
communication was systematized and also the elements are being expressed. Our teachers (the
speakers) generated ideas (messages) and encode it into words or actions. Both of them used
visual aid and overhead projector as well as body languages to improve their communication.
They transmitted the ideas by means of providing seat works or group activities. And we (their
students/ the receiver) got the message and interpret it by answering those given exercises. But at
any stage of this process things may go wrong, making our communication less effective. For
instance, the noise brought by the construction site outside our classroom. This kind of barrier
greatly affects the flow of our communication. However, the most important way to overcome
this barrier is to get regular feedback from the students. That`s why our teachers used the
“Transaction Model” to know if we really understand the lessons.

It is essential to communicate effectively in teaching to ensure that the teachers achieve

their goal of spreading knowledge and forming good relationship among their students. Teachers
also need the clarity of thought to present their ideas successfully. Effective communication
includes transforming the boring way of teaching into the interesting one.
