A woman in the studio was asking questions and a man was answering them by the telephone. The
man said: “We must think about the children at this tragic time.”Tragic? What was he talking
about? I listened more carefully. A few seconds later, the woman said: “We have changed this
morning’s programmes to bring you news of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales.” I felt a
terrible shock. I couldn’t believe it.That morning I telephoned about 25 people. Everyone was in
deep shock. We didn’t know what to do. When we arrived at the Palace, there were about a
thousand people there.
