“PLANNING IS ESSENTIAL”
P.I.E. Trainings are informational sessions to help further educate and give information to parents of
students receiving Special Education Services. Various information is presented which may be
helpful for a student’s future either educationally, independent living, or future planning. Many of
the themes are structured around specific topics that may or may not pertain to a specific student
need. P.I.E. Trainings are rotated in regards to location but generally begin at 6pm on the scheduled
date. In order to accurately account for the materials needed it is encouraged that you respond
with your planned attendance to mtoronyi@d230.org.

DHS's Division of Rehabilitation Services is the state's lead agency serving individuals with
disabilities. DRS works in partnership with people with disabilities and their families to
assist them in making informed choices to achieve full community participation through
employment, education, and independent living opportunities.
Bridge Builders and New Futures Initiative:​ (10/17/18)
The Center for Independent Futures developed a step-by-step process that gives families
Victor J. Andrew the ability to open doors to supported living options in their own neighborhoods. At a time
when government housing is at capacity and funding is not increasing, the New Futures
Initiative is a road map to guide families on their paths toward the housing solutions their
loved ones need and deserve – ones that make financial sense and build the personal
networks that will help them live more independently for years to come.

The Construction Industry Service Corporation (CISCO) is a non-profit labor management
association. CISCO was founded in 1988 in an effort to bring union construction labor and
management representatives together to work cooperatively in order to better the
Lincoln-Way East construction industry as a whole.
PUNS, SSI, Homebase Services, Medicaid:​ (3/13/19) Sherri Snider
Sherri Snider from Family Benefit Solutions provides support to families entering the
various assistance programs to maximize available options offered by state and federal
agencies.
This informational presentation will focus around students who need additional support at
home and/or for their future. Students who will have a difficult time obtaining
employment in their future may qualify for Social Security and/or Medicaid support.
Students whose families have additional hardships at home needing additional assistance
may qualify for respite or home services through various government programs.

Do you have a child that will require future planning in order to ensure proper care for
them throughout their lifetime? ​Special Needs Legal and Future Planning for families of
children and adults with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities,
and/or mental illness.
