PROBLEMS

1) Lack of availability of student parking space


- Increase in number of student who bring own vehicle transport has increase, and
lack of parking space leads to car being parked at unauthorised areas.

2) Disturbance to public and other students


-Parking at roadside (unauthorised) cause difficulty to other students and public who
used the road as the car is parked at both sides of roads and only small space is
available for students to walk along the road.

3) Safety and condition of the car


-Car park along the roadside, without roofting protection, cause car exposed to rain
and sun which degrades the condition of car by time. The gardeners perform their
duties (cutting grass along roadside) sometimes cause dirt and pebbles hit the car.
Since the road space is confined, students holding umbrella might scratch the car.
SOLUTIONS

1) Build a guarded roofted car park at Wang Ulu.


2) Provide sufficient parking space for staff,students and residents.

Job Scope: To consider the proposal report and investigate the

feasibility of a needs based parking system and propose the

idea to Jabatan Pembangunan..

2) Jabatan Pembangunan Unimap

Job Scope: Conduct a review of available plots and car park layouts on
campus in order to maximize existing layout capacity and
identify new areas for car parking. (review car park effiency
short-term).

BENEFITS

2) The will not have to struggle to find for a parking place everyday.
3) The safety of car will be ensured.

COST

Cost of carpark varies massively depending on where it is and whether it is a


flat piece of land, above ground, in a multi-storey building or in a basement.

Flat-piece RM 150 ~ RM 300 per square metre


Land In basement/ multi-storey building x Rm30 000 – Rm 50 000.
CONCLUSION

Throughtout this survey, we could identified the problem at Kolej


Kediaman Wang Ulu which is lacking of parking space for students, staff and
residents. Due to this problem, it cause difficulty to other students and publics
to walk away along the road because of the small space. Furthermore, it does
not have any safety guaranteed parking at this place. The car that parked along
this roadside expose to rain and sun and it also might be scratch because of
sharp objects. To prevent this problems, we need to build a guarded roofted car
park and provide a sufficient parking park for all residents. We believe that,
with the implementation of this proposal, it will improve this current
management of this parking place. The safety of the car also will be ensured and
residents are more easier to find the parking place.
