Jabatan Teknologi Kejuruteraan Mekanikal, FTK
Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia

COURSE OBJECTIVES

• To understand the kinematics and kinetics

concepts.
• To predict the effects of force and motion while
carrying out the creative design functions of
engineering technology.
• To apply problem-solving procedures that will
use in succeeding courses and throughout
career.

2
LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

• Analyze the position, velocity and acceleration of

particles and rigid bodies using kinematics.
• Select the appropriate law of motion to solve kinetics
problems related to forces and acceleration of particles
and rigid bodies.
• Follow the principle of work and energy to solve kinetics
problem on particles or rigid bodies.
• Demonstrate all methods that have been studied into
case study on dynamics, practice, critical thinking and
problem solving skills through student team work.

Tutorial Assignment / Tutorial
1. Assignment must be hand-in individually.
2. Assignment must be free hand (hand writing).

Individual Project
1. The potential case study must be first discussed
with the lecturer to get approval before move on.
2. Students are expected to use their creativity to
select the most relevant case study which relates to
the fundamentals of dynamic subject.
3. Report and Virtual Presentation (CD) must be
hand-in individually, in Week 12.

13
BRIEF FLASHBACK REMINDER

Paraphrased:
• A particle at rest or in motion will remain unless acted
upon by an external force.
• An unbalanced force causes an acceleration in the
same direction as the applied force. (F=ma)
• Every action has an equal but opposite reaction.
