Lucino C. Soriano: Educator

During his short teaching stint at the University of Rizal System Antipolo and Cainta campuses (2012-1214),
aside from teaching Literature and Education subjects, he edited a sizeable number of graduate and under-
graduate thesis and technical reports. At times, whenever appropriate, he also integrated his talent in dra-
ma and scriptwriting in teaching Literature subjects, this elicited greater interest on each lesson and devel-
oped his students’ creative talents. In a number of times, he was invited to lecture on creative writing and
photography to campus journalists in seminar-workshops in a number of educational institutions in the
Cities of Quezon, Antipolo, Pasig, and Mandaluyong.

Lino C. Soriano: Photographer

Love at first click! In the early 70’s he learned the basics of photography and darkroom techniques from his
godfather who was then the chief crime photographer of the defunct Philippine Constabulary. From 1972-
1982, he was the official photographer for Dr. Pacifico Edralin Marcos at Medicare (now PhilHealth).
Shooting intricate surgeries under general anesthesia in operating
rooms, despite being terrifying at first, became part of his regular
routine. Change has come! From 1983-84, after clicking his Ma-
miya C220 film camera and processing the transparency, his crea-
tive and sexy photos of celebrities and starlets landed on the front
and centerfold pages of a number of magazines. Now, another
change has come! Lino shoots technical photographs and events.

As an artist who is at ease in using his right and left brain hemi-
sphere, it gives nature-lover Lino immense joy to shoot pictures of
adorable animals and awe-inspiring natural scenery during his free
time or write short quotes for friends and acquaintances: To uplift the spirit, to overcome seemingly insu-
perable obstacles, especially in this formidably trying times.

At present his new Website is still being de-

veloped that will feature most of his pub-
lished material, technical newsletters, radio
and TV scripts; news, feature, creative and
technical articles, legal documents (sans
names, designations, and places), photo-
graphs taken here and overseas, AVP’s,
and TV dramas broadcast on national televi-
sion, and video clips that inspire, make us
laugh, then forget the vicissitudes of daily life
brought about by uncontrolled factors and
complexities of modern living.
With all of these remarkable achievements, honor should not be bestowed to Lucino ‘Lino’ Cali Soriano,
but to our Creator, to whom we owe our talents and existence. Secondly, to his Brother, Fundador
Cali Soriano (1938-2016), who tirelessly taught him the basics of Writing and more importantly, he un-
derscored the need to ceaselessly embrace the love and passion for one’s craft, and to inform, educate,
entertain, and whenever necessary, help make a difference in people’s lives.
