Boren endorses Edmondson for governor

David Boren made
his first significant foray
back into state politics
after serving as the pres-
ident of OU for more
than two decades when
he endorsed Democratic
gubernatorial candidate
Drew Edmondson in a
press conference
Thursday morning.
The endorsement
itself is not surprising,
considering Boren, a
former Oklahoma gov-
ernor and U.S. senator,
is one of the most
prominent Democrats in
the state. Boren cast the
gubernatorial race
between Edmondson
and Republican candi-
date Kevin Stitt as a
contest between a safe,
experienced politician
and an amateur.
"We need to elect
someone who has a
proven track record for
standing up to special
interests and getting the
right things done for
Oklahomans," Boren
said. "We don't have to
guess what kind of gov-
ernor Drew would be."
