 Understand the general steps for the oxidation of fuels
 Difference between units of measuring energy (i.e. Cal, kcal, kJ)
 Know energy density for the different sources of fuel
 Be familiar with the following terms and their role in fasting and fed state
o Glycolysis
o Glycogenesis (glycogen synthesis)
o Lipogenesis
o Protein synthesis
o Glycogenolysis
o Lipolysis
o Gluconeogenesis
 Equilibrium constant, Reaction rate (velocity)
 Understand relationship between 𝚫G and spontaneity and exergonic/endergonic
 Be familiar with the free energy graph
 Understand how enzymes affect the free energy graph (ppt slide 33)
 Difference between lock & key and induced fit
 Know different classes of enzymes
 Isoenzymes
