REPORT ON OBSERVING SWACHHTA PAKHWADA

DELHI SCHOOL OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES AND RESEARCH
(DSPSR)

Registrar, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, vide notice no. IPU/GA/SBM/2016-
17/73 has circulated ‘Day-Wise Action Plan’ to be undertaken during Swachhata Pakhwada
in affiliating institutions for the year 2017-18.

Accordingly the Swachhta Pakhwada was observed in the institute from 1st to 16 September,
2017.

 The function started at 11:00 am at reception area with welcome address by Executive
Director, DSPSR. He welcomed all present and explained importance of cleanliness.
 Director, Registrar, all faculties and other staff members took Swachh Bharat Pledge
 Executive Director in his address explained in detail the importance of maintaining
cleanliness at personal level, family level, society level and community level. It was
appreciated that after start of cleanliness drive (2nd October 2014) on the campus, the
ambience has improved. He mentioned that though there is improvement in overall
cleanliness, still there is scope for further improvement.
 It was decided:
 To reduce plastic waste in the campus.
 Scrap material must be disposed off and old records should be weeded out.
 Class rooms, faculty rooms, administrative rooms, corridors, common areas,
kitchens, utensils wash areas and toilets must be given special attention.
 Slogans related to “Swachhata Abhiyaan” were displayed in the institution.
 He further requested all not only to maintain clean campus but also to educate and
assist nearby localities/villages in maintaining cleanliness. In further regard to this,
our students visited nearby JJ colony and sensitised local people about the importance
of cleanliness.
 After welcome address, all present collectively started picking of plastic waste. Hand
picking of plastic waste was done all throughout length and breadth of the campus.
Plastic waste collected was later loaded in to garbage carriage vehicle and removed
from campus.
 One special lecture was arranged for students of DSPSR in order to explain them
importance of cleanliness and later sanitation products were also distributed to them.
 One plantation drive was also organised in the nearby area.
 At the end, Executive Director personally talked to all present particularly safai
karmacharis, obtained their views. All the queries raised by safai karmacharis were
replied and they were assured that all out help will be extended to them to achieve
total cleanliness.
 Before departure, Executive Director thanked to all for taking active part in this
Abhiyaan.
 The activities will continue with vigor and energy to achieve the dream of Gandhiji of
Swachh Bhaart.
