Can we tell you a story?
In 2012 Levi Dannayo traveled to a church
on the outskirts of Lilongwe, Malawi. Levi
has been working with Songs for Saplings
to teach children God’s Word through the
Questions with Answers songs. Levi found
that the churches in this village did not
have children attending. He discovered that
many of the children there belonged to a
dark religion called “Nyau.” Children who
participate in Nyau are forbidden to attend
school or a Chrisitan church.

Levi had and idea. He gathered volunteers

from the village to teach them the Songs for
Saplings music. He provided the volunteers
with a radio (run on a car battery) which
played the Songs for Saplings music that
had been translated into Chichewa, the local
language there. They started a “Songs for
Saplings Children’s Club” and invited the
week there were less than 20 children.
By the third week, more than 200 children
were attending, most of whom practiced
Nyau.
Almost two years later, many of these
children have left Nyau, enrolled in school,
and are attending local Christian churches
with their families.
Today the Songs for Saplings Clubs are
growing each week. The children hear God’s
Word, sing scripture, and learn the deep
truths of the Bible using Songs for Saplings
songs in their own language.
