Short Description Method: Finite-difference calculation with acoustic and elastic (including anisotropy) approximations of full wave equation. Allows modeling all wave effects of the seismic wave-field propagation in complex heterogeneous medium. Standard PC equipment is used. Data can be monitored and analyzed on screen. Resulting synthetic shotgathers and snapshots are intended for use in geology-geophysical interpretation of seismic surveys. Input Data: 1) Model structure: scaled cross-section with horizons, layers, faults and inclusions supplied with compressional and shear (optional) velocity and density parameters. 2) Observation system: position of the seismic field excitation and receiving points (lines) on the model surface or in the well. 3) Seismic signal form and pick frequency (or band of frequencies). Output Data: Synthetic shotgathers or time cross-section and snapshots. Processing: Elements of AVO analysis included. Synthetic and real data can be processed in the package in various ways. Purpose: 1) Seismic interpretation verification, including estimations of: a) reality of the reflected discontinuities and structural elements; b) correlated artifacts not tied with the medium model structure and resulting from the conventional data processing. c) resolution capability of the observation system. 2) Recommendations for the seismic data processing and planning of the observation system. 3) Creation sample data sets for geophysical software development. 4) Educational tool.
