Re-takers: November 9 – December 2 (Excluding Thanksgiving vacation) T TH every 20 minutes from 9-11 and 1:30-3:30 (Days and times are filled up in order beginning with November 9) If you are enrolled in a fall 2010 ESL course to fulfill the retake requirement, the earliest you can be scheduled for the interview is November 1. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REQUIRED OF RETAKE STUDENTS: Semester in which test was last taken, course number and semester of ESL course OR tutor’s name. The language improvement requirement for those retaking EPI may be fulfilled by enrollment and attendance in a graduate-level ESL course (ESL 504, 506, or 510) or obtaining a minimum of 10 hours of private language tutoring with a CTE-approved tutor.
PLEASE NOTE: • To satisfy the requirement, ESL instruction must take place in a semester after the EPI was taken. • A list of qualified tutors may be picked up in room 3070 Foreign Languages Building. • A letter from the tutor indicating completion of ten hours of tutoring must be brought to the EPI. Please make sure you request a letter from your tutor.
Test Location: The Center for Teaching Excellence, Room 249 Armory; the best way to reach this room is by entering the Armory Building through the northeast doors. http://cte.illinois.edu/testing/oral_eng/tes tdates.html You may want to go to this office in advance to be sure you can find it, and to gauge how much time to allow for getting there. NOTE: Students must arrive 15 minutes early for check-in.
You will need your UIN and a picture ID when you arrive for the test.
It is recommended that students taking the EPI prepare in advance by speaking English as often as possible in order to gain fluency. Each interview is a conversation that evolves from what the examinee and interviewer bring to the table. There are no set questions.
If you would like to be scheduled for an EPI, send me the required information at your earliest convenience.
