Ye Yint Thet Zwe is a Burmese poet born in Yangon, Burma in 1964. He studied literature in Burma until 1988 when he became part of the student army during the 8888 Uprising. In 1990, he left Burma for political reasons and has lived in several countries including Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan and currently Finland. While in Japan, he founded an independent Burmese library and magazine to preserve their cultural heritage. Ye Yint Thet Zwe (Burma, 1964) was born in the City
of Yangon. He studied Myanmar Literature for two years at the Correspondent University of Yangon until 1988, when the student revolution (common- ly known as the 8888 Uprising) began and Ye Yint became part of the student army. In 1990, he left Burma (also known as Myanmar) for political rea- sons and has lived in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan and finally in Finland, where he currently lives.
In Tokyo, Ye Yint founded the independent Burmese
library ‘Ahara’ with the help of other writers as a way to preserve their heritage. He was also editor of Ahara magazine, second chairman of Burmese Workers Union in Japan, part of Burma Media Asso- ciation, and also a supporter member of the student army of Myanmar and Thailand border (ABSDF).
