Press Release

Barclays engaged to raise awareness on Breast Cancer

September 21, 2018 Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Speaking during the colleague awareness and breast cancer check-up at the Barclays Head
office, Head of Marketing & Corporate Relations, Aron Luhanga said, “Barclays is committed
to engage and increase awareness of the disease based on its cause, prevention, diagnosis,
treatment and cure to those affected by breast cancer”.

In partnership with Breast Cancer Foundation of Tanzania (TBCF), Barclays colleagues will
celebrate this year’s Breast Cancer month in style by offering an awareness session to
colleagues and to provide breast check-up tips with aim to work and save lives of women
dying from breast cancer which is about 50% of all cancers.

Breast Cancer Month has been celebrated in October every year since 1991 by a breast
cancer survivor, Janelle Hail. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1980 at the age of 34.
At the time of her diagnosis, there was little information about the disease, and she was
forced to make a decision about her health with few options.

Aron added that Barclays has opted to raise awareness earlier with a mission to enhance the
quality of life of women living with breast cancer through provision of counselling, education,
advocacy and advisory services”

As a bank, we continue to cement our commitment to making a positive impact in the

society in which we serve by advocating change.
