AFFIRMATIVE
Issue: Are religious services significant in the training of the cadets?
Assertion: Religious services are significant in the training of the cadets.
Reason:
Religious services are significant in the training of the cadets because it makes them motivated
to do military training.
Evidence:
Fact – A study conducted in the U.S. Military Academy or West Point, shows that cadets
who are attending religious services have more respect to religion, may it be Muslims or
Christians.
Opinion- According to General Allman of the US Army, those who were given religious
materials and accommodation of their religious practices for them to make them feel like
brothers even though they don’t have the same religious backgrounds.

Observation- Cpt. Gerogalin, a soldier from the Chaplain Service, says that cadets are
spiritually motivated to do tasks and they feel respected because their religious beliefs are
accommodated here in the Academy.

Testimonies- Cadet Costales, who is a second class cadet said that his soul is spiritually-
charged because the Academy allows him to perform religious services on Sundays and his
church’s special occasions.

NEGATIVE
Issue: Are religious service significant in the training of the cadets?
Assertion: Religious service are insignificant in the training of the cadets.
Reason:
Religious service is insignificant in the training of the cadets because it causes only
endorsement for all the cadets.
Evidence
Fact - base on the study of the groups of psychologists, military personnel attending
religious service won’t help them survive the rigid training.

Opinion - According to the survey of the Dr. Abby, a Philosophy instructor in PMA, 259
out of 300 selected cadets who undergone the survey said that attending religious service is not
helpful on their training.
Observation - LTC Dimapati, the Command Chaplain, cadets attending religious service
shows disrespect when they are sleeping inside the church.

Testimonies - Cadet Putan, a fourth class cadets, said that attending religious service is
a waste of time since he did not care about his spiritual aspect.
