HC-AR-04: More premature babies are surviving, but at a greater cost. Retinopathy of prematurity is a
leading cause. Without child’s cooperation, visualizing the retina on computer screen.

HC-AR-05: Treatment of stuttering: A substitute to the already existing methods and devices.

HC-AR-06: Spectrometer or any instrument to calculate blood sugar using urine sugar level.

HC-AR-07: Cleft lip and palate children: gadget to improve speech till surgery is done and bettering speech
after surgery is done.

HC-AR-08: Potassium content for green leafy vegetables are not recommended to people in many cases.
Suggest a solution to remove the potassium content from the same.

HC-ALF-01: Eye tracking: Providing images of human eye captured using infrared cameras, then tracking of
pupil is done with the help these images and videos its (pupil) size is known (generally varies between 4-
8mm). Use Machine Learning Algorithms which can be applied to track the pupil and get output.

HC-ALF-02: Using brain electrodes develop an algorithm to predict how human brain perceives different
wavelengths and intensities of light involving the signal process.

HC-ALF-03: A non-invasive or external mechanism to detect diabetes and thereby giving the exact
blood sugar level at that instance.

AU-ALF-02: Sample reports will be scanned from the hospital, an Optical Character Recognition needs to be
done on this scanned copy and useful text needs to be extracted from the image of the report. An algorithm
efficient enough to extract data from noisy and artefact based scanned copy of the report is expected.

AU-DAN-01: Alternate speed control logic/method for variable speed compressor. Develop logic to
estimate the amount of frosting on the evaporator to initiate defrost only when required

AU-DAN-02: Smart Refrigeration system control

AU-DAN-03: How to study the IGBT failures modes and detect root causes?

AU-DAN-04: Implementation of High and low speed controls for motors with higher reliability e.g.

AU-BOS-01: Automate a complete Juicer. Industrial design to input fruits and automate the process of
grinding and sieving the juice with intensity variation of the juicer and Timing control for the juice to be
filtered out in a perfect manner. A simple design concept is welcomed.

AU-ER-01: Software based design calculation module design for detuned and tuned passive filter design for
voltage levels from 415V to 400KV.

AU-ER-02: Software based calculation and relationships between positive and negative sequence
components of electrical system.

AU-ER-03: Software based calculation and relationships between distance and resistance of standard cables
in the system in regards to allowable voltage drop.

AU-ER-04: Software based calculation for negative sequence from measurement done using standard Power
Quality Analyzers, like Fluke, Chauving Arnoux, PQ Box, Krykard etc. (database collection in regards with
various types of loads in linear and non-liner planes of the power system)

AU-VIC-01: Design a system for farmers to help them monitor their land, suggest crop types,
pesticides and / or the best price to sell it to the market at.

AU-VIC-02: A sensor system to find the condition and health of industrial motors.

AU-AP-01: Water consumption and leak detection system: Detects flow rate and controls opening and
closure of discharge valve. Based on flow rate defines user profile e.g. in-use or leakage (say too high, too
low or longer duration same flow rate can be treated as leak, the thresholds for this flow rates shall be
programmable). Calculate daily water consumption and send SMS to user every 24 hours or in case of leak
detection.

AU-AP-02: Smart Solar water heater: Specially in winters when usage of hot water is staggered in time the
output water temp keeps dropping and as the usage prolong in time (even during day time) the temp drops
to the level which is un-comfortable for use. This limits the usability of solar water heater in winter. The
system shall provide resolution to this issue and explain the solution.

AU-VEO-01: Driver behavior assessment using Vehicle Dynamics

Human beings tend to perform multiple tasks at a time during driving, which can lead to fatal accidents.
Asian market needs a cost effective solution with sensors. Solution must not use Camera or face recognition
and use existing Vehicle Sensors of ESC (Electronic Stability Control), EMS (Engine Management Systems) to
detect driver's behavior.

AU-VEO-02: User Authentication and Driving mode decision via Iris and FR

Smart Cars require identifying drivers and enhancing the user experience as well as handling digital threats in
keyless access control. Target is to use Iris and Face recognition method to detect the user and his/her mood
swings, (for Example: Anger, Sad, Happy, or in a Hurry etc.) to adapt the driving mode of the vehicle.
 AU-TM-01: Rotating Gear wheel inspection for quality using – Ultrasound / Vision / MR.

AU-TM-02: FAST data transfer of Vehicle Test data to local server using wireless technologies.

AU-TM-03: Automated Annotation of LIDAR point cloud for Vehicles.

Safety and Security

SS-ALF-01: Face Recognition of people by smart networking of the user. This recognition system should be
connected to a database referencing a face to the person’s name and profile details so that user recognizes
potential clients or doctors to network with in a smart automated manner. 4-5 cameras are put at the
entrance and the picture by this feed is analyzed and compared to those stored in the database. A full profile
of the person is thus given to the user.

SS-ALF-02: Surveillance using electric Drones or autonomous vehicles on environmental survey and
to keep a check on the status for security and services.

SS-VIC-01: Design a system to monitor and prevent unauthorized entry in a crowded court room.

SS-VIC-02: A wireless sensor network to detect forest fires.

SS-VEO-01: Avoiding Traffic signal Jumps using IoT, Cloud and Navigation
According to a report prepared by the Transport Research Wing (TRW), the total number of road
accidents registered is 4.89 lakh in 2014 alone. Chennai registered 1,118 road accident deaths in
2014. Jumping Red Signal is one of the reasons for such road accidents. How can we use Vehicle
safety features for traffic rules adherence ?
Note : Using Open Source resources, develop algorithms for avoiding traffic signal jumps.
Log the data to Cloud to assess the offence.

Energy Management
EM-DAN-01: Using IOT to synthesize useful info from air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.

EM-DAN-02: How can the energy available in refrigerant circuit in terms of flow, temperature
difference, pressure difference, vibration be converted to energy which can be utilized by the
system.

EM-DAN-03: Alternative to existing invertor and switching concepts – to enhance switching losses.

EM-DAN-04: Starting current/Inrush current management of Compressors, Electronically commuted

motors (ECM) and LED lights.

EM-ER-01: Software based data base management of power factor penalties and incentive rates and
percentages for various states in India (For voltage levels from 415V to 400KV).

EM-ER-02: Software based calculation UPS battery calculation (database collection in regards with
various types of loads in linear and non-liner planes of the power system).
EM-VIC-01: A wireless sensor network which monitors the electricity consumption in malls and
offices.

EM-VAL-01: Improved cooling performances for Stator and Rotor

Growing Vehicle electrification trend demands highly efficient motors and generators. Heat
generation during motor operation impacts the material properties of the key components like the
permanent magnet, the steel core and also the copper coils which in turn impacts the machine
efficiency. Stator and rotor are the main heat source during operation due to electrical and
magnetic losses which are converted to heat. Opportunities to improve the heat dissipation on
rotor and stator to be explored.

AT-AR-01: Old age tremor reduction device.

AT-AR-02: Chat-bot for the unread to be used for emergency situations.

AT-VIC-01: Design a home automation system for blind / deaf people to be able to perform their
everyday tasks with ease.
AT-AP-01: Measure and correct the delta distance between calculated GPS and Real truth GPS position in
straight line or circular path.

AT-AP-02: In car infotainment we have common problem of “near-side bias problem”. Devise a solution for
the same.

AT-AWT-01: Disruptive Sports Technologies for personalised healthcare of athletes.

AT-AWT-02: Gait analysis (study of human locomotion) for analysing an athlete’s movements.
