The three people I spoke with in order to get feedback for my Project where, my
classmate Martín, Tanya Kalmanovitch, and my piano professor Irina Morozova. All
three conversations were very interesting and productive. With Martín I actually spoke
the first one, even before this project had started. I specifically told him about what I
had in mind for the project, and he gave me some advice. For example, at the beginning
I was going to focus the interview mainly on commissions and only commissions.
Martín suggested that I might want to also bring into the conversation topics like:
recording, or performing. In fact, I did so, and I explain in my project evaluation the
information that I got about this. The meeting with Tanya was also very productive. She
gave me links to AMAZING documents online. One of them I talk about in two of my
journal entries. This one is titled “Meet the composer, Commissioning music: a basic
guide.” It talks about specific commissioning fees of all kinds of music genres. This was
so helpful. It also gets very specific in talking about all the different rights that
composers and commissioners have, and it gets into great detail when talking about
piano teacher was also very productive. What was VERY helpful was that she started
their money from. The case of Tchaikovsky particularly struck me, where he actually
had kind of like a “private wealthy patron” named Vonmeck, who paid for his living
expenses so he could dedicate himself to composition. Thank god that she did this, and
