The Holy Spirit Strengthens

God promised to send John the Baptist to prepare the way for Jesus.

John went into the desert to prepare for this task.

He went into the desert,

(Class repeats)

to prepare for the special work God sent him to do.

(Class repeats)

John the Baptist was strengthened by the Holy Spirit,

(Class repeats)

and he began preaching,

(Class repeats)

and baptising the people who came to hear him.

(Class repeats)

Today we are also strengthened by the Holy Spirit.

(Class repeats)

The Holy Spirit strengthens us,

(Class repeats)

so that we can live out the two Great Commandments of Jesus.

(Class repeats)

The first Commandment of Jesus is:

‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart,
(Class repeats)
with all your soul,

(Class repeats)

with all your strength,

(Class repeats)

and with all your mind.’

(Class repeats)

The second Commandment of Jesus is:

‘You must love your neighbour as yourself.’

(Class repeats)

Today we remember and reflect on how the Holy Spirit strengthens us.
