Education: A Weapon for National Development

Education is the most effective instrument not only for personal transformation but
also for national development. This adage summarizes the salient points the text wants
to convey to its readers. It says that education is the answer to quench every Filipino’s
clamor for their country—economic emancipation, political independence, and cultural
renaissance. It asserts that Philippine education must be geared towards producing
highly-intellectual, productive citizens who are sensitive to the needs of their country, who
are responsive to these needs, and whose hearts are more than willing to make sacrifices
for their country.
Since we are now in the 21st century, the text’s claim that education is the best
investment that we can make clearly implies that our country’s progress heavily depends
upon knowledgeable, skilled, and educated workforce whose aim is to help solve the
problems of our country today. This means that if Philippine education’s goals and
objectives are the same as that of the proposition stated in the text, the better we will
perform economically.
Moreover, if we look into the broader idea that the text wants to convey, we will
