The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine
Resistance to the Zionist state of Israel
as a political, military and economic
entity which is inherently racist and
through its policies and actions denies
Palestinians their land, their freedom
and their rights; is not terrorism.
The PFLP has been one of the leading
left secular progressive forces in the Palestinian struggle for
justice and emancipation since its inception in 1967. They were
the second biggest political force within the Palestinian
Liberation Organisation (PLO), next to Fatah when it was lead
by Yasser Arafat. When the PLO entered into the “Peace
Process” and the OSLO accords the PFLP vigorously opposed
this path. Recently the PFLP withdrew from the PLO’s Executive
Committee in protest against the PLO’s return to direct
negotiations with Israel.
Instead the PFLP sees the path to liberation as a single secular
state in all of Palestine, with the right of return for Palestinian
refugees and where all people regardless of race or religion
have equal rights. The PFLP continues to struggle both militarily
and politically for the single secular state and fights alongside
all Palestinian forces that oppose the Zionist state of Israel.

Who is Ahmad Sa’adat
Ahmad Sa’adat is the general secretary of the Popular
Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and elected
member of the Palestinian National Council and a widely
recognised Palestinian National leader. He has been
imprisoned since 2002 in the prisons of the Palestinian
National Authority, held under U.S and British guard,
until his abduction by the Israeli occupation forces on
March 14th 2006 by an occupation military raid on a
Jericho prison. On December 25, 2008, he was
sentenced to 30 years inside occupation prisons. He is a
member of the Palestinian Legislative Council and one
of the foremost Palestinian National Leaders held inside
the occupiers jails.

celebrate the trial and convict me on the basis of
your lists of accusations, the public one and the
secret one, and you can dictate a sentence
prepared by the political and security apparatuses
that are behind this trial. But I too possess a will
obtained from the justice of our cause and the
determination of our people to reject any decision

The Workers Party of New Zealand is calling for the
immediate release of Ahmad Sa’adat and all
Palestinian political prisoners being held illegally in
Israeli and Palestinian jails, and for the immediate
removal of the PFLP from “terrorist designation
lists” in the EU and North America.

Who are the Palestinian Prisoners
There are nearly 10,000 Palestinian Political Prisoners
inside Israeli jails. In the West Bank, nearly half of all men
have been detained in occupation prisons. They are
members of all Palestinian political parties and factions,
and come from all walks of life—activists, teachers,
farmers, students. They are women and men, and
children and youth. They include in their number
hundreds of administrative detainees.—arbitrarily
detained individuals held without charge on secret
evidence. They also include approximately 27 members
of the Palestinian Legislative Council. All of these
prisoners are held in occupation jails because they are
struggling for the freedom of their people and their land.
