Argentina is situated in South America and the capital is Buenos Aires.


Argentina means Land of Silver, the language is Spanish . Pato is the
official national sport of Argentina. It is a combination of polo and
basketball. Football (soccer) is the most popular sport. A major export of
Argentina is wine. It is divided into 23 provinces. Argentina declared
independence from Spain on the 9th of July, 1816.Current President,
Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, was the first woman President to be
elected. It is the 30th largest country in the world by population, with just
over 40 million people. The official currency of Argentina is the peso and
the highest mountain is called "Aconcagua". The Argentine barbecue is
beef or roasted meat and vegetables ". The national drink is “mate “ and
they have the milk caramel jam .The Iguazu Falls are one of the seven
wonders of the world. The popular dance is Tango. The Argentinian
flag has three horizontal stripes. While the first and the last stripe are sky
blue, the one between is white. At the center of the middle stripe is the
golden sun. The Cockade of Argentina was first used during the May
Revolution of 1810.The national animal is the Ovenbird and the ceibo is
the country's designated national flower and tree. The Coat of Arms of
Argentina represents the union of the provinces.

THIS IS MY SCHOOL
1.-Read

This is my school
I go to José de San Martin Secondary
School. It‟s a small school in Mar del Plata,
in Buenos Aires. There are only 15
teachers and about 250 students. Classes
start at 7:30 in the morning up to 13 in the
afternoon.
José de San Martin School is a new
school and the facilities are modern and
attractive. The classrooms and the labs
are big and well equipped (smart boards,
video projectors), the library has
thousands of books and DVDs, the
canteen is spacious. There is also a gym
Pat with showers and a big play-ground, my
favourite place. I love my school.

This is my school
I go to Domingo Faustino Sarmiento
Secondary School in Bahía Blanca, in
Buenos Aries. . It‟s an old school, but I
like it very much. There are about a
thousand students and 130 teachers. We
start classes at 8:00 and finish at 13:30.
The school has two floors. . The class-
rooms have old furniture, but they all
have an interactive board, which make
lessons very interesting. The gym is very
big, but there are not many showers, and
the water is very cold.
The library has many books. The canteen
is clean and the food is good. The
playground is very big and it is my Tim
favourite place.

JUAN‟S SCHOOL DAY

My name is Juan and I attend to Domingo Faustino Sarmiento


Secondary School. I go to school from Monday to Friday. I am in 1ST
year. My favorite subject is physical education, the first class on
Mondays and the fifth on Fridays. We always play football on Fridays.

I have got four hours of mathematics and literature. Mathematics is the


fourth and fifth class on Mondays and the first and second class on
Wednesday. However, I prefer language, which is the second and third
class on Tuesdays, the fourth class on Wednesdays and the third class
on Thursdays.

Geography and history belong to social studies. It is the first class on


Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the second class on Thursdays and the
first on Fridays.

The same happens with physics, chemistry and biology. They all belong
to natural sciences in first. So it is the third class on Mondays and the
fifth class on Tuesdays and the third class on Wednesdays and the
second class on Fridays.

On the other hand, art is the fourth class on Tuesdays and the fifth
class on Wednesdays. One of my other favorite subjects is English, my
second class on Mondays and fourth class on Fridays.

We have got a new subject: citizenship. It is the fourth class on


Thursdays and the third class on Fridays.
