2. if you are fresher when did you start preparing for cat.

Phew.. Such detailed questioning..

1. I gave my CAT last year with a week's preparation and just solving CAT 2008 paper the previous
night. Was too arrogant to solve more, I should say. Then it hit me in the face on the results' day that
my verbal skills are so bad that I ended up with a 90 percentile in verbal section even though my
overall percentile is 99(No calls ).

1. What all material have you done till now.
2. Any specific books apart from coaching institutes that you have done.
3. When you are attempting Quant section , what percentage of questions on average you are already
acquainted with.
4. If you come across question involving concept you have never learnt before how do you tackle it.
1. Facing the reality of my own incompetence, I was so frustrated and started solving whatever
material I can get my hands on. To date, I have solved the entire TIME, IMS and CATfunda materials.
There were some 400 sectional tests in Testfunda Rankbooster module and a few more on TIME
website. Finished almost everything. I am confident that I can solve most of the questio types arriving
in AIMCATs because of this extensive and exhaustive practise.

3. Mostly, I don't remember any question that I solved but the concepts and principles used to solve
them get ingrained in my thought process. Also, I try to frame questions by myself whenever i
encounter a new topic. This will keep the concepts on the top of your memory. And for every few
days, I go back to solving the basic questions like BMRs from IMS material or concept practise
questions from Testfunda skillbuilder. This refreshes my memory and helps in retaining the concepts
on the top which I might not have encountered in the past few AIMCATs.

4. This has been one of my weeknesses ever since I was preparing for IIT-JEE. Whenever I am posed
a question involving a concept which I am not familiar with, I just stop there and try to solve the
question without even having the minimum sense that my time is running out. I slowly got rid of this
weekness not by leaving out the questions but by making myself familiar with most of the basics.

2. same as in QA above
3. Its really advantageous that when you are doing DI sets or even LR questions you must be familiar
with the set before, so what percentage of the sets you are already familiar with ?
4. There are various vedic tricks available which claim to increase your calculations. I have tried so
many but they didnt help me much. what are your views on this.
1&2 same as QA

3. I don't think there are any sets I am familiar with even though I have solved a plethora of them.
Everytime I solve a set, it's always new to me. It's just that the practice made my life easier because
now I can calculate the percentages (quotients of biiiiig divisions) without touching the paper with
pen.

4. Once again, I don't know any vedic mathematics or short-cut tricks.

3. As we all know VA is more about instincts but do you get all these insticnts from as I too have
instinct which always land me on the wrong side of answer.
4. Are there any tricks in Verbal sections, any shortcuts or something.

1&2 same as QA.

3. I don't know about instincts. My reading speed initially was very low and my comprehension
capacity abysmal. To improve on that, I have read a large number of novels, 47 to be exact, including
lord of the rings in the past 6 months. Now, my reading speed is pretty high. I have gone through the
dictionary mugging up words (left it after mugging upto J, don't do this.. It's utterly useless). Now, my
best friend is the thesaurus. I open my word web pro whenever I find some free time and start
browsing it without taking a hint of the passing time. And yeah, one more thing, I have gone through

all the Sentence correction threads on pagalguy.. Really helpful

4. Not any that I know of. You better ask onomyst or SamX.

this any other site you would refer.
4. Any other thing which I missed but you want to add.
1. 12 mocks and 20 pending..
2. I make a lot of educated guesses(at least in verbal) but most of them turn out to be correct.

3. Not really sure.. I would recommend pagalguy..

Well... I feel like adding a few more things but already my brain is half-shut down and I don't even

understand what my hands are typing..  So, taking leave for now.. All the best..  Good
night puys..
