1882- Rizal decided to study in spain, after he finished his study in the university of santo tomas.

Additional info

Paciano, his elder brother readily approved him going to spain and so did his two sisters
Saturnina and Lucia. Rizal did not seek his parents’ permission and blessing to go abroad because he
knew that they, especially his mother, would disapprove it.

Finishing his study was not only the reason but also because of his secret mission to observed
the life and culture, language and customs, industries and commerce, governments and laws of the
European nations.

RIZAL IN SINGAPORE

May 3 1882- On May 3, 1882, Rizal departed on board the Spanish steamer Salvadora bound for
Singapore.

To fight his boredom, Rizal played chess and win over all of his opponents many times.

fight against the friars in the Philippines

1885- Febuary 1886- Rizal worked as a assistant of Dr. Louis de Weckert (leading French

1886- Rizal worked at the University Eye Hospital under the direction of Dr. Otto Becker.

April 22, 1886- Rizal wrote a fine poem “A Las Flores de Heidelberg” (To the Flowers of Heidelberg).

July 31 1886- Rizal wrote his first letter to Bluementrit and sent it to him with a book, Aritmetica, which
was written in Spanish and Tagalog.
