Paciano, his elder brother readily approved him going to spain and so did his two sisters
Saturnina and Lucia. Rizal did not seek his parents’ permission and blessing to go abroad because he
knew that they, especially his mother, would disapprove it.
Finishing his study was not only the reason but also because of his secret mission to observed
the life and culture, language and customs, industries and commerce, governments and laws of the
European nations.
RIZAL IN SINGAPORE
May 3 1882- On May 3, 1882, Rizal departed on board the Spanish steamer Salvadora bound for
Singapore.
