CHRIST'S CHURCH RESTORED

INTRODUCTION: The Church was established A.D. 30. Since that day and prior to the
Restoration Movement, many "deaths" and "re-births" occurred. (note: chart)
A. The Restoration Movement
1. From Denominations to CHRISTIANS, only
2. From Creeds of Men to the BIBLE
3. From Worldliness to GODLINESS
B. The re-births leading to the Restoration Movements were not made easily or without
suffering. The Restoration was the result of the works, prayers and sacrifice of many. (Some seem
to feel there is no longer a Restoration movement. The Restoration Movement: "It exists where
people are doing it and it is needed where ever error exists."
PROPOSITION: Our duty is to keep Christ's Church restored to the true NEW TESTAMENT
PATTERN.

WE DON'T NEED...
CHURCHANITY but CHRISTIANITY
TRADITION but the BIBLE
DIVISION but UNITY

I. MEMBERSHIP
A. Sincere BELIEVERS - Acts 8:37 Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou
mayest. And he answered and said, I BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. (note: can't
force people to be Christians - Constantine - see chart)
1. Having been Humbly REPENTANT -- Acts 2:38
2. Having Truly CONFESSED --Matt. 10:32,33
3. Having been Scripturally BAPTIZED -- Col. 2:12 Buried with Him in baptism wherein we are
also raised through the faith of the operation of God.
4. Lovingly FAITHFUL -- 1 Cor. 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast..

The BIBLE ONLY makes CHRISTIANS only.

1. If a CREED (doctrine) says exactly what the BIBLE says, it is UNNECESSARY.
2. If a CREED (doctrine) says something more, it says TOO MUCH.
3. If a CREED (doctrine) says LESS, it is NOT ENOUGH.

II. MEMORIALS
A. The Lord's Day.
1. Set Apart -- Mk. 16:9 Now when Jesus was risen early the FIRST DAY of the week, he
appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.
2. Claimed -- Rev. 1:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day, and heard behind me a great
voice, as of a trumpet.
3. Observed -- Acts 20:7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together
to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech
until midnight.
B. The Lord's Supper.
1. Instituted -- Matt. 26:26-28
2. Instructed -- Luke 22:19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto
them saying, This is my body which is given for you: this DO in remembrance of me.
3. Proclamation -- 1 Cor. 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew
the Lord's death till he come. (How Often: 1st 700 years every Lord's Day)
III. ORGANIZATION
A. Christ is HEAD -- Eph. 1:22-23 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the
head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all. (note:
God hath put all things under his feet,...)
Philippians 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is
above every name.
B. Officers
1. Evangelists -- 2 Tim. 4:1-5
2. Elders -- Titus 1:5-9 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the
things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee: If any be
BLAMELESS, the HUSBAND OF ONE WIFE, having faithful children not accused of riot or
unruly. For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not
given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men,
sober, just, holy, temperate: Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught that he may be
able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
3. Deacons -- 1 Tim. 3:8:-13
C. Worship -- Acts 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostle's DOCTRINE and
FELLOWSHIP and in BREAKING OF BREAD, and PRAYERS. (To be done with reverence.)
D. Unity - (The N.T. Church , in love, strives for unity of all believers upon Bible grounds.) Eph
4:1-6 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that you walk worthy of the vocation
wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one
another in love; Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one
BODY, and one SPIRIT even as ye are called in one HOPE of your calling; One LORD, one FAITH,
one BAPTISM, One GOD and FATHER of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
