Heaven & Hell

(SHEOL/HADES/GEHENNA)

THE RIGHTEOUS WILL BE REWARDED AND THE WICKED PUNISHED WITH ETERNAL PUNISHMENT:

Matthew 25:31-46
31 When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his
throne in heavenly glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will
separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. 34 Then the King will say to
those on his right, Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance. the
kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you
gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a
stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you
looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. 37 Then the righteous will
answer him, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you
something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing
clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? 40
The King will reply, I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these
brothers of mine, you did for me. 41 Then he will say to those on his left, Depart from me,
you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was
hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43
I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me,
44They also will answer, Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or
needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you? 45 He will reply, I tell you the
truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me. 46 Then
they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life. (NIV)

"SHEOL," WHEN THE CONTEXT CLEARLY DOES NOT CONVEY THE IDEA OF
PUNISHMENT/TORMENT OR FELICITY/HEAVEN, "SHEOL" MAY RIGHTLY BE TRANSLATED
"GRAVE" AS IS DONE BOTH IN THE KJV AND NIV AS WELL IN OTHER TRANSLATIONS.

WHEN "SHEOL" IS EMPLOYED TO INDICATE A STATE/PLACE OF TORMENT, THE WORD

"HELL" BEST CONVEYS THE INTENDED MEANING OF THE WORD. TRANSLATIONS OF THE
WORD "SHEOL" IN OTHER TRANSLATIONS OTHER THAN THE KJV, WHEN SHEOL MEANS
PUNISHMENT AND TORMENT, AS IS DONE IN THE NIV AND SOME OTHER
TRANSLATIONS, ONLY FRUSTRATE THE MEANING OF TORMENT/PUNISHMENT ("HELL")
INTENDED TO BE CONVEYED BY THE INSPIRED WRITERS OF GOD'S WORD.

NOTE: "I have thoroughly read in Hebrew, Greek and English all the above-given
passages of the Bible to be certain of their meaning. JM"

IN CONCLUSION, CONSIDER: LUKE 16:19-31. THIS PASSAGE SHOWS THAT HELL WILL BE
A STATE/PLACE OF TORMENT.

CONSIDER JUST TWO OF THE VERSES: LUKE 23-24 23 In hell, where he was in torment,
he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him,
'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and
cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.' (NIV)

ALSO CONSIDER: REV 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of
fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day
and night for ever and ever. (KJV)
-YOU WILL NOTICE THAT THE TORMENT WILL BE FOR EVER AND EVER.
REV 20:14-15 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second
death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of
fire. (KJV)
-NOTICE THAT ALL WHOSE NAMES ARE NOT WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE WILL BE CAST
INTO "THE" LAKE OF FIRE. THE TORMENT/PUNISHMENT WILL BE ETERNAL: MATT 25:31-
46 41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into
everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 For I was an hungred, and ye
gave me no meat; I was thristy, and ye gave me no drink: 43 I was a stranger, and ye
took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me
not. 44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or
athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45
Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one
of the least of these, ye did it not to me. 46 And these shall go away into everlasting
punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. (KJV)

(BOTH THE PUNISHMENT (TORMENT) AND REWARDS (FELICITY) ARE

EVERLASTING=ETERNAL)
