This technical bulletin introduces a new CAN filter for crane communication to replace existing polyswitches, cables, and transient protection devices. The CAN filter mounts on a standard DIN rail, protects the CAN bus from transients and faulty wiring, and has a built-in 120 ohm CAN termination resistor that can be enabled or disabled via a dip switch. It automatically connects the CAN ground potential to the DIN rail but also allows for separation if needed.

New CAN-filter for Cran com. SCS4 and Midrange Topic:
CAN filter for crane communication BR1704458
The CAN filter is designed for mounting on a standard DIN-rail. It is designed to protect the CAN bus against transients and faulty wiring. This CAN filter will replace Polyswitch BR1027832, IFM cable with built-in resistor BR1028280 and in some case also Phoenix Transient protection BR1020915/1020916 See picture below. .
The CAN filter automatically connects the CAN GND potential to
the same potential as the DIN-rail. If there is a need for DIN-rail and CAN GND separation: simply remove the screw.
The CAN filter has a built in CAN termination resistor (120ohm).
The CAN termination can be enabled or disabled by sliding the DIP-switch in the ON or OFF position. ON = CAN termination enabled OFF = CAN termination disabled
Please note that the earth
connections “CAN GND” and “+VBB GND” must be connected to the same potential BR1027832
