IGS

The Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) established in the year 1948, having headquarter at New Delhi,
is promoting co-operation among engineers for the advancement and dissemination of knowledge in
the field of Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering and allied fields and their practical
applications. It provides a common forum for all those who are interested in geotechnical activity. The
society is affiliated to International Society of Soil Me The Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS)
established in the year 1948, having headquarter at New Delhi, The Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS)
(ISSMGE). To promote closer interaction amongst geotechnical engineers spread all over the country,
local chapters of the Society were introduced in 1968. various IGS –Chapters are inaugurated in 1950
and various events have been organised continuously for the benefit of local engineers and students.
