Model Answer
Hi Emily,
How are you? I was wondering whether you’d like to
go to the Isle of Wight Festival. R.E.M. will be
performing.
The festival lasts three days and always has great bands.
Apart from music, there are activities like
skateboarding and BMX riding that I’d like to try. We
won’t have to worry about food: there are stalls serving
ethnic food all day long and you can get cocktails at the
Bollywood bar – the latest Indian disco. It sounds like
fun, doesn’t it?
Would you be able to buy the tickets? A three-day
ticket costs £75 unless we go camping. Then it costs
£90. What do you prefer? Tickets can be booked online
at www.ticketzone.co.uk or www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
As for getting there, we could take a train to
Portsmouth Harbour and a ferry to the island which
connects to festival buses.
Let me know if you want to go.
Love,

I could see he was listening carefully to the music. It

was going well and people began to get up and dance
near their tables. They were clapping and singing. I
think he was impressed. When we finished, he gave
us a big round of applause and walked over to us.
He really liked our music. It’s a combination of reggae
and local music. We thought it was very original and
so did he. He gave us a business card and asked us to
phone his agent. I was so surprised I could hardly
speak. Then we all started to laugh. It was the chance
of a lifetime – to make our first recording and
hopefully become famous. We couldn’t believe our
luck!
We set up an appointment to meet him the following
week. The days passed slowly but finally, on Thursday
morning, we stood outside a recording studio. It was
like a dream come true.
