• Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Students are participating in Principle 1, Provide Multiple
Means of Representation, by viewing the information on PowerPoint and on handout in front of them.
• They are also using Principle II, Provide Multiple Means of Action and Expression, by choosing what
platform they present their information.
Lesson idea implementation: The teacher will show the students the PowerPoint on Colors.
Students will follow along on the handout and list other objects that are usually that particular color.
Then, students will be provided with various classroom objects of different colors. They will sort the
objects by color. Then, they will write down how many of each. They have the option to draw a graph
representing their findings on paper or they can create it on Excel.
Students will be assessed on accuracy of graph and presentation. To extend this activity, gifted
students may sort objects by other attributes such as size and shape. To assist my ELL students, I will
provide a handout with English and Spanish words for the colors. At the end of the lesson, students
will have an opportunity to share their graph.

Reflective Practice: I believe this activity would be effective. However, it may be too easy for some
students. I may need to extend the activity to add other attributes. Also, students could publish their
graphs to a class blog to extend the technology involvement.
