Aaron siskind early work as a social documentary photographer is best seen in his

contributions to the harlem. Siskind also identified with the ideas and styles of the

abstract experssinist artists in new york in the 1940s. Aaron siskind was born on

December 4, 1903 in new york city, Ny. Aaron siskind parents are not mentiond but

he was the fith child from his family his parents were russin jewish immigrants.

Aaron siskind was a English teacher in new york for 21 years. Aaron siskind first

love was music, poetry but he took an interest in photography after his 1929

wedding, when he received his first camera as a honey moon present. In 1971 Aaron

siskind was awarded the degree of honorary Doctor of arts from Columbia college in

Chicago. In 1976, he received the national endowment for the arts grent for visual

arts in photography . One of Aaron siskind quotes are “ Photography is a way of

feelling of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… it

remembers little things long after you have forgotten everything. Some facts of

Aaron siskind is that he graduated from the city college of new york in 1926. Aaron

siskind made some of his most successful and well-know documentary photographs
