Freeze Protection or Process Temperature Maintenance
BSX self-regulating heating cables are designed to provide 2
freeze protection or process temperature maintenance to
metallic and nonmetallic piping, tanks and equipment.
3
The heat output of BSX cable varies in response to the
surrounding conditions along the entire length of a circuit.
Whenever the heat loss of the insulated pipe, tank or
equipment increases (as ambient temperature drops), the 4
heat output of the cable increases. Conversely, when the
heat loss decreases (as the ambient temperature rises or
product flows), the cable reacts by reducing its heat output.
This self-regulating feature allows BSX to be overlapped 5, 6
without temperature upset damage to the cable.
BSX cables are approved for use in ordinary (nonclassified)
areas and are certified to the ATEX directive for use in

Freeze Protection or Process Temperature Maintenance
RSX 15-2 self-regulating heating cable is designed for 1
applications where the Watt density requirements preclude

High performance HPT power-limiting heating cables are 1
designed specifically for process temperature maintenance
or freeze protection where high maintain temperatures or

temperature exposures associated with steam purging.
A coiled resistor alloy heating element (patent pending)
provides the power-limiting feature of HPT. This PTC 5
(Positive Temperature Coefficient) characteristic decreases
the cable’s power output as the heat-traced product
temperature increases and allows the cable to be over- 6
lapped during installation. The composite construction of
the heating element and fibre substrate, plus an additional
fibre cushion layer, provides an exceptionally durable high
7
performance heating cable.
