Tech Conf - Wind & Earthquake Hybrid (Manila) 2018 1019-20 2
SEMINAR BRIEF Building structures are generally designed to resist and sustain the effect of loads and forces which are basically categorized
AND OBJECTIVE: as gravity loads and lateral forces. The lateral forces as prescribed in Sections 207 of the National Structural Code of the
Philippines (NSCP) for wind loads are thoroughly discussed in Chapter 2 Minimum Design Loads. This technical seminar
provides comprehensive discussion with solved problems applying the step-by-step procedures in computing the wind loads
on buildings. In addition, understanding the behavior of whether old or new structures upon the action of wind forces would
be vital in conducting rapid evaluation of damaged structures during a major event such extreme wind.
