Chapter 7 – The Selection Process

There are 8 steps in selection process, which are the initial screening interview, completion
of the application form, preemployment tests, comprehensive interview, conditional job offer,
background investigation, medical or physical examination and permanent job offer. In our
organization, not all of these steps are practiced. The only steps included in the selection process
of LoCo are initial screening interview, completion of the application form, conditional job offer
and permanent job offer.

They release word about vacant positions through referrals and postings from their social media
sites. After receiving some responses from a pool of applicants, they start screening, wherein they
try to assess applicants who are possibly fit for the job. Then those applicants will be called for an
initial screening interview. The initial screening interview is done in person, and not by phone-
something which is commonly practiced by other organizations.

If the organization sees that they have the potential to do the job well, they will have to complete
the application form which was made by LoCo to gather some information about the applicant;
information, such as, years completed in school, address. If the applicants met their requirements
after the comprehensive job interview, they are offered a conditional job wherein they are under
probation for three months. There three months will include their training period while also being
paid. If their performance is satisfactory and they completed the three months, the organization
then will hire them permanently for the job.
