SUMMARY
Introduction

Candida-related problems have become epidemic in recent

decades. Candida is best known as causing the annoying itching
of thrush but that is just the tip of the iceberg. More serious are the
gastro-intestinal problems that it causes and a wide range of
diseases and conditions when it invades the bloodstream.
More often than not we may not even realize that our health
problems are due to Candida and related microbes and parasites
because Candida can appear in the disguise of countless different
diseases and symptoms. Autoimmune diseases, allergies, asthma,
arthritis, chronic fatigue, anxiety and depression, hyperactivity,
attention deficit and even cancer are all closely related to Candida
and similar microbes.
Fortunately we have effective natural therapies to control and
overcome Candida and other parasites. We do not even need to
know if our problems are caused by this fungus or by any other
microbes. The recommended natural therapies have broad-range
anti-microbial effects, and are good to use by everyone once a
year to eliminate harmful microbes and parasites.

Chapter 1

SOME CANDIDA BASICS

Candida is a yeast-like fungal organism. The most common strain

is Candida albicans found naturally in small amounts in our
intestinal tract and the vagina. Normally it is kept in check by a
healthy bacterial flora consisting mainly of lactobacilli and bifido
bacteria.
When our intestinal flora is disturbed by using antibiotics and some
other drugs, or during severe and prolonged emotional stress,
Candida as well as other fungi and mycoplasmas can take over
and cause candidiasis or overgrowth of the intestinal tract. This
tends to cause gastro-intestinal symptoms such as digestive
problems, pain, discomfort, bloating, and also diarrhoea or
constipation.
The infection can easily spread to other parts of the gastro-
intestinal tract, causing thrush around the anus, and inside the
mouth and vagina. Vaginal yeast infections, also called Vaginal
Thrush, cause intense vaginal itching, burning during urination,
and often a cheesy white or yellow vaginal discharge. In the mouth
it may form a white tender and easily bleeding cover on cheeks
and tongue. In mild cases it may just result in cracks in the corners
of the lips. It can also be a cause of canker sores and bad breath,
and in babies it causes diaper rash.
If left untreated, Candida soon develops a new form with long,
burrowing legs (rhizoids). These start growing into and through the
wall of the intestinal tract and may cause pain due to inflammation.
Gradually the intestinal wall deteriorates and allows partially

1
digested proteins and Candida toxins to travel into the bloodstream
and cause allergy and immune reactions.
This condition is called Leaky Gut Syndrome, and is connected
with Irritable Bowel Syndrome or Inflammatory Bowel disease,
Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, food malabsorption and
multiple allergies. Other microbes and parasites are often present
as well.
When this occurs, the yeast infection can get access to the whole
body, and is then called Systemic Candidiasis. Apart from
devastating the immune system and making us susceptible to
colds and other infections with bacteria, viruses and fungi, a wide
range of diseases and symptoms may develop. These include:
Constant fatigue or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Arthritis or flu-like symptoms with joint and muscle pain
Fibromyalgia, muscle pain and weakness
gastric over or under-acidity and acid reflux
Headache and migraine
Chronic sinus infection and other mucus problems
Undesirable weight loss or gain and inability to change it
“Brain fog” or memory and concentration problems
Obsessive thoughts, compulsive behaviour, irritability
Depression, anxiety and panic attacks
Personality changes, addictions and mood swings
Fungus on finger or toe nails and skin
Chronic urinary tract infections
Pre-menstrual tension and other menstrual problems
Itching red eyes and vision problems
2
Skin rashes or eczema
Jock itch or rashes in the groin area
Hair loss
Candida and related fungi and mycoplasmas are also the
underlying factors in autoimmune diseases, such as lupus
erythematosus, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, Raynaud’s
syndrome, scleroderma, and thyroid diseases, as well as in
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia.
Most or all children with hyperactivity, attention deficit disorder,
and autism are affected by fungus problems, often in combination
with mercury exposure as from dental amalgam or vaccination
additives. Candida overgrowth is the main cause of the multiple
allergies that trigger hyperactive periods and short attention spans.
It is similar with asthma and eczema which also commonly have
Candida as the underlying primary cause.
The toxicity of Candida to the nervous system is largely due to an
excessive production of acetaldehyde. This substance is formed
when yeast cells metabolize sugars and there is a deficiency of
oxygen. Acetaldehyde can also result from ingested alcohol. In
addition fungi in the intestinal tract can produce large amounts of
tartaric acid which can be absorbed and then interferes with the
normal energy production in our cells. This is a main cause of
Candida-related muscle weakness and adds to mental problems
caused by acetaldehyde.
Depending on other contributing factors, Candida can manifest
with different symptoms in different bodies. You may have any
combination of these yeast related symptoms, and in mild cases
you may not even notice anything. Furthermore, these symptoms
may be due to other causes and illnesses as well. As a group most
at risk of developing Candida infections are diabetics, obese
individuals, pregnant women and babies of mothers with Candida.
3
DIAGNOSING CANDIDA
Candida overgrowth can be difficult to diagnose in laboratory tests
as it lives naturally in the intestines, but it can be assumed to be
present if the value of a stool test is much higher than normal.
However, it should not be present in the blood. If it is found there,
then the diagnosis is established.
A common, natural diagnostic method is Live Blood Analysis or
Hemaview. Many naturopaths can do this now by observing a drop
of blood in a dark-field microscope. One can often see fungi and
deformities of red blood cells caused by enclosed microbes, and
the view can be projected onto a large screen.
A simple Saliva Test for Candida is as follows:
Immediately after rising before you eat or drink anything fill a clear
glass with water at room temperature. Spit some saliva into the
glass of water. Then check from time to time for up to 1 hour to
see what happens to the spittle. If Candida is present, you will see
one of three things, or a combination of these.
There may be strings like legs extending down into the water
from the saliva floating on top
Cloudy saliva will accumulate at the bottom of the glass
Cloudy bits will remain suspended in the water.
The quicker and stronger the strings grow and the sooner the
saliva sinks, the more Candida is in the sample. If there are no
strings and the saliva is still floating after one hour, you probably
do not have systemic Candida, but may still have a mild or
localized problem in the intestines or the vagina, and you may still
have dysbiosis and infestations of other pathogenic microbes.
However, even if Candida is under control, more or less dormant
infestations inside the mucous membranes of the mouth may still
continue to produce a mild reaction with the spit test, especially

4
after eating sweet food or drinking wine or beer. See Chapter 8 on
how to deal with this.
LIST OF RISK FACTORS & SYMPTOMS
You may also look through the following list of risk factors and
symptoms to get an estimate of your likelihood of having a
Candida problem and the severity of it. The larger the number of
risk factors and symptoms that apply to you and the more severe
the symptoms, the greater is the probability that you have systemic
Candida infection.
Use of antibiotics or chemotherapy – the greater the
frequency or duration the greater the likelihood of Candida.
Use of Prednisone or other cortisone-type drugs.
Thrush, oral or vaginal, is the most obvious symptom, with
vaginal discharge, burning or itching.
Do you have cramps, irregular periods or premenstrual
tension?
Have you had chronic prostatitis, vaginitis or other problems
of the reproductive organs such as impotence and loss of
sexual desire? (libido)
Are you sensitive to tobacco smoke, perfumes, insecticides
and other odours and chemicals?
Are you more affected on damp, muggy days or in mouldy
places?
Do you have chronic mucus problems, congestion in the
throat or sinuses, or a frequently runny nose?
Have you had chronic fungus infections of the skin or nails
such as athlete's foot, Paronychia (inflammation of the nail
bed), ring worm, jock itch or others?
Does your tongue have a furry white coat?
5
Do you crave bread, sugar or sweet foods or alcohol?
Do you have chronic fatigue, or just fatigue or lethargy or
feeling drained?
Do you have generalized malaise?
Do you have depression, poor memory, or feeling spaced-out
or unreal?
Do you have hyperactivity problems with short attention span
(ADD or ADHD) or irritability?
Do you have muscle aches or weakness?
Do you have numbness, tingling, burning or paralysis?
Do you have joint problems – pain or swelling?
Do you have digestive problems, constipation, diarrhea or
bloating?
Do you have fat malabsorption, allergies or addictions?
Do you have spots in front of the eyes or erratic or
changeable vision?
The presence of thrush makes Candida virtually a certainty. Also if
you have at least three of the following four symptoms then
Candida is almost certainly present: these are craving for sweet
foods, a poor alcohol tolerance, chemical sensitivity, and bloating.
If you have persistent fungal skin problems or nail problems then
you can also assume that you have at least intestinal and possibly
systemic Candida infestation. In any case, use suitable anti-
Candida therapy and you will avoid much long-term health
damage.

Chapter 2

ORION TRUSS & THE ANTIBIOTIC SYNDROME

In 1953, Dr Orion Truss discovered the devastating effects of

antibiotics in an Alabama (USA) hospital. During a hospital round
Truss was intrigued by a gaunt, apparently elderly man who was
obviously dying. However, he was only in his forties and in hospital
for four months. No specialist had been able to make a diagnosis.
Out of curiosity Truss asked the patient when he was last
completely well.
The man answered that he was well until six months ago when he
had cut his finger. He had received antibiotics for this. Shortly
afterwards he developed diarrhea and his health deteriorated.
Truss had seen before how antibiotics cause diarrhea. It was
known that Candida was opportunistic and thrived in debilitated
patients, but now Truss wondered if it might not be the other way
round, that Candida actually caused the debilitated condition.
He had read that potassium iodide solution could be used to treat
Candida infestation of the blood. So he put the patient on six to
eight drops of Lugol's solution four times a day and soon the
patient was again completely well.
Shortly afterwards he had a female patient with a stuffy nose, a
throbbing headache, vaginitis and severe depression. To his
amazement all her problems immediately cleared with Candida
treatment. Sometime later he saw a female patient who had been
schizophrenic for six years with hundreds of electroshock
treatments and massive drug dosages. He started treating the
woman for sinus allergies with a Candida remedy. Soon she had

7
completely recovered mentally and physically, and remained well.
From then on he treated his patients against Candida at the
slightest indication of its presence. Many of his patients made
remarkable recoveries from most unusual conditions including
menstrual problems, hyperactivity, learning disabilities, autism,
multiple sclerosis and autoimmune diseases such as Crohn's
disease and lupus erythematosus.
Every experienced naturopath can relate similar success stories.
Ironically, antibiotics are usually not necessary in the first place. In
those cases in which they may be desirable their serious after
effects could easily be avoided by using fungicides and possibly
lactobacilli at the same time. Nystatin, for instance, is a medical
prescription fungicide which is not absorbed into the blood but
rather remains in the intestines, and therefore does not cause a
health problem.
Many people doubt the effectiveness of natural therapies against
apparently serious infections, but my experience leads me to
believe that natural therapies are much more effective, without
causing the repeated and chronic infections that are so common
after antibiotics. I have seen patients recover within days or weeks
with natural therapies after they had been on unsuccessful long-
term treatments with antibiotic.
THE ANTIBIOTIC SYNDROME
Lack of energy and digestive disturbances, allergies, arthritic joint
pains, skin diseases, menstrual problems, emotional instability and
depression - all of these have greatly increased in recent decades.
These are all symptoms of what I call the 'antibiotic syndrome'.
On further examination more symptoms may be discovered. Most
of the gastro-intestinal tract is tender when pressed, especially the
small intestine, liver and gall bladder. There may even have been
a gall bladder operation that failed to improve the condition,
8
sometimes even worsening the symptoms.
There might be a history of thrush or oral, anal or vaginal itching.
When these are present the diagnosis of Candida is obvious, but it
may also be present in the absence of these manifestations and
that can be somewhat confusing.
The yeast or fungus Candida albicans, of course, thrives during
antibiotic treatment. I regard it as reckless negligence to prescribe
antibiotics without simultaneous fungicides and replacement
therapy with lacto and bifido cultures afterwards. I believe that this
negligent use of antibiotics and similar drugs is the greatest single
factor causing chronic diseases in our society.
Furthermore, babies now frequently inherit Candida already at
birth and during breastfeeding from their mother. There are also
indications that fungal DNA can be inserted into our genes, and
long-standing Candidiasis may be a cause of genetic mutations
and inherited diseases.
A 1993 study found that every single one of 55 patients admitted to
one hospital’s casualty department was given broad-spectrum
antibiotics. Blood tests showed that 67% per cent of them
developed systemic Candida overgrowth.
Another study found that chemotherapy commonly leads to
systemic Candida infections, which greatly limit the success rate of
chemotherapy. Long-term follow-up studies show that children
develop 18 times more secondary malignant tumours, girls face a
75 times higher risk of breast cancer, while the risk of developing
leukaemia after chemotherapy for ovarian cancer increased 21-
fold.
Only recently have oncologists started to acknowledge what
patients called “chemo-brain”, a distressing loss of memory and
other cognitive functions. Psychiatrists have now found that the
conventional treatment of cancer causes serious depression in
9
15 to 25 percent of patients. "The depression itself can often be
worse than the disease" they say.
I believe that most of these devastating outcomes of the
chemotherapy syndrome could easily be avoided or greatly
reduced with appropriate anti-fungal therapy.
However, the chemotherapy and antibiotic syndromes are not just
due to Candida. I regard it more generally as a 'dysbiosis' where
the wrong kind of microbes and parasites inhabit the intestinal
tract, not just Candida and other fungi, but many types of
pathogenic bacteria and amoeba, including coli bacteria which are
normal in the colon but become disease-forming when they
ascend into the small intestine.
If the problem has existed for years, there is usually a lack of
gastric acid which then allows the stomach to be colonized by
microbes, causing inflammation with pain and later ulcers. The
toxins released by the microbial overpopulation may cause in
addition chronic inflammation of the liver, gall bladder, pancreas
and intestines. Chronic inflammation of the pancreas is a major
contributing factor in the development of insulin-dependent
diabetes.
In the 1940's Candida overgrowth was found in only three per cent
of autopsies, 50 years later the figure was over thirty per cent, it
will be even higher now. There are, of course, other factors that
can cause dysbiosis - the contraceptive pill, steroids and other
drugs, and radiation treatment - but the main culprits are, without
doubt, chemotherapy and antibiotics.
A case history
(From http://www.greatplainslaboratory.com/home/eng/candida.asp).

Here is a typical example of how Candida tends to develop. A boy

had been developing normally up to about 18 months of age and
knew about 200 words. Then he had several courses of antibiotics
10
for ear infections. From this he developed thrush, a Candida or
yeast infection of the mouth and tongue. Now his behaviour
deteriorated quickly, he lost all speech ability, became extremely
hyperactive, woke up all night long, lost eye contact with his
parents, and was diagnosed with autism.
This pattern of an initial normal development, followed by
regression after antibiotic treatment is very common with autism,
and especially in boys with autism. His yeast-related organic acids
and especially tartaric acid in the urine were very elevated. One
day after he started receiving the antifungal drug Nystatin he once
again made eye contact, and at the same time the elevated tartaric
acid in the urine started to decrease. It took over 60 days to return
to the normal range. His extreme hyperactivity began to fade, and
his sleep pattern also improved.
Dr William Shaw who related this report also wrote: "I have now
detected this same phenomenon in hundreds of other cases. Even
after six months of antifungal treatment, there is often a
biochemical 'rebound' and loss of improvements after
discontinuing antifungal therapy."
Damaging Metabolites
Tartaric acid is not normally produced in our body, but Dr Shaw
found that it results from excessive yeast fermentation either in the
intestines or other sites of Candida infestation. A main
consequence of tartaric acid in the blood is muscle weakness.
Tartaric acid is closely related to malic acid which is a key
component of the citric acid cycle to produce energy in the cells.
The presence of tartaric acid blocks the metabolism of malic acid.
With this the body cannot produce energy aerobically by oxidising
glucose, but instead it now produces energy anaerobically by
converting glucose into lactic acid. This generates only 20% of the
energy that could have been produced by proper oxidation of
glucose. This explains the lack of energy and overacidity as well
11
as mineral deficiency so common with Candida.
In this same article Dr Shaw also shows that intestinal and
systemic overgrowth with Candida and other fungi frequently
causes high amounts of an abnormal 5-carbon sugar, arabinose,
to be excreted with the urine. Candida apparently produces the
sugar alcohol arabitol which is then converted in the liver into
arabinose. Elevated urine levels are even present with vaginal
thrush.
Arabinose tends to react with the amino acid lysine in some
proteins and then forms cross-links with arginine in adjoining
proteins. This changes the biological structures and functions of a
wide variety of proteins, especially enzymes, and causes
functional deficiencies of vitamin B-6, biotin, and lipoic acid.
This process makes proteins less soluble and causes them to
precipitate in delicate structures such as the lens of the eye,
making it more opaque and causing cataracts. Cross-linking is also
at the heart of other aging processes within the body. Cross-
linking, for instance, causes increasing stiffness and rigidity of
muscles, tendons and connective tissue, and shows up as wrinkles
and aging skin.
Another common effect is increased accumulation of abnormal
metabolic protein residues inside the cells, such as in autoimmune
diseases. Children with autism have the same type of fibre tangles
in the brain as are present in Alzheimer's disease, indicating that
both may be related to fungus problems.
There is evidence that metabolic protein wastes accumulate in
most individuals at a steady rate, and this accumulation is
therefore related to increasing age. But the metabolites formed by
Candida can now be seen as greatly accelerating our age-related
decline - with Candida we age faster. The opposite effect, leading
to rejuvenation, takes place when we remove protein wastes
through periodic raw-food fasting and cleansing or by adopting a
12
diet based on predominantly fresh and raw food.
The yeast metabolites tartaric acid and arabinose have been found
not only in autism but also in SLE (lupus), Alzheimer’s disease,
attention deficit disorder, hyperactivity, and chronic fatigue.
There is much additional evidence of this same sequence of
careless antibiotic use leading to symptoms of Candida overgrowth
and then to specific diseases. This especially involves the immune
system as in the case of autoimmune diseases and cancer; the
brain and nervous system, leading to depression, Alzheimer's
disease, Parkinson's disease, and other mental and movement
disorders; muscle weakness as in fibromyalgia, and generalised
weakness as in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
BACTERIAL ATTACK
In addition to fungal overgrowth, dysbiosis is also associated with
a proliferation of other pathogenic microbes. Specific types of
pathogenic bacteria appear to cause or contribute to specific
autoimmune diseases.
One variety of coli bacteria, for instance, produces a molecule that
is very similar to insulin. When the immune system becomes
activated against this molecule it may then also attack the beta
cells of the pancreas and initiate Type 1 diabetes.
Another type of bacteria, Yersinia enterocolitica, induces an
immune response that attacks the thyroid gland and leads to
Grave's disease with a serious overproduction of thyroid
hormones.
Ulcerative colitis is linked to overgrowth with pathogenic microbes,
the same as Crohn's disease, osteoporosis and ankylosing
spondylitis. In ankylosing spondylitis the vertebrae of the spine
fuse together causing stiffness and pain. Other joints may in time
become affected.

13
Klebsiella, another type of pathogenic bacteria, produces a
molecule that is similar to a tissue type found in people with this
disease. When Klebsiella numbers in the gut decrease, related
antibodies in the blood decrease and the condition improves.
Rheumatoid arthritis is linked to other bacteria, called Proteus.
Proteus is also a common cause of urinary tract infections. Women
suffer urinary tract infections as well as rheumatoid arthritis twice
as often as men, while men usually have higher levels of Klebsiella
and three times more ankylosing spondylitis than women.
In addition microbial overgrowth damages the intestinal wall so
that only partly digested food particles can pass into the
bloodstream, causing allergies. In this way all autoimmune
diseases can be linked to food allergies caused by dysbiosis.
This is most obvious with rheumatoid arthritis. Other autoimmune
diseases that have so far been linked to dysbiosis and allergies
are psoriasis, lupus erythematosus and pancreatitis. When
remedies are given that bind bacterial endotoxins, these conditions
usually improve.
A further consequence of dysbiosis is susceptibility to food
poisoning as with salmonella bacteria, while a healthy intestinal
flora prevents these from multiplying and causing trouble.
Tests have shown that when probiotic bacteria dominate it takes
one million salmonella bacteria to cause disease; when we have
dysbiosis it takes only ten.
Staphylococcus aureus or Golden Staph cause serious infections
in hospital patients. It has been found that not only Golden Staph
but also other infections are greatly potentized when they occur
together with Candida overgrowth. As Candida overgrowth is a
natural outcome of the standard hospital treatment, it is easy to
see why Golden Staph is so deadly in hospitals.
A similar picture emerges with AIDS. People do not die from the
14
AIDS virus but from Candida-potentized invasion of the blood with
pathogenic microbes. It is the same with cancer. In the end-stages
of AIDS, cancer, and severe mycoses such as systemic
Candidiasis patients die of the same wasting disease, called
cachexia. This is due to the destruction of the red blood cells by
fungus-related microbes.
I also see the antibiotic-induced dysbiosis in babies and infants as
the main cause of their frequent infections, glue ear and greatly
contributing to cot or crib death. While it used to be uncommon for
children to have more than one or two colds or infections a year,
now more than six or eight is the norm. Many babies already get
Candida and other pathogenic microbes from their mother in the
birth canal or through breast-feeding.
In recent years (2004 and 2005) it has also been experimentally
shown that antibiotics-induced intestinal overgrowth with Candida
predisposes us to allergic airway disease such as asthma. Babies
given antibiotics in the first six months that were specific for certain
bacteria were 2.6 times more likely to develop allergic asthma, but
with broad-spectrum antibiotics, which kill a wide range of bacteria,
the risk was far higher: children were 8.9 times more likely to suffer
from asthma.
MYCOPLASMA
Closely related to Candida overgrowth are infections with
mycoplasmas or mycoplasms. These are pleomorphic organisms
without cell walls. “Pleomorphic” means that they can change
shape from protein blobs or spores to viral, bacterial and fungal
forms, depending on the health of the organism in which they live.
Mycoplasmas have been shown to be a main factor in the
causation and progression of cancer and autoimmune diseases.
These include rheumatoid arthritis, type 1 diabetes, multiple
sclerosis, thyroid diseases, lupus, scleroderma, and others.
Mycoplasmas can be controlled with a wide range of anti-microbial
15
remedies which are also effective against Candida and other fungi.
Therefore, anti-microbial therapy has also major benefits in the
treatment of cancer and autoimmune diseases.
While a causal correlation between cancer and viruses has been
shown only in a few rare or animal tumours, several independent
researchers have reported the proliferation of certain microbes in
all cancer patients. One of the first was the German professor of
zoology and microbiology G. Enderlein who described in 1925 the
different stages of a microbe that is normally present as tiny
colloidal protein units. In various degenerative diseases, especially
cancer, these protein units grow into cocci and higher bacterial
forms and finally into fungi.
Several other researchers - Roy Ray Rife, Wilhelm Reich, Virginia
Livingston-Wheeler, Alan Cantwell and Gaston Naessens - have
described the same phenomenon. Orthodoxy, however, has a
dogma that says microbes always have the same form and cannot
change from viruses into bacteria and fungi. This is because
orthodox microbiologists commonly observe dead stained
microbes in dead tissue, or live ones for short periods, instead of
live microbes in live tissue at very high magnification over long
periods.
Anyway, this microbe, also called the cancer microbe, appears to
do much of the damage attributed to malignant tumours and
autoimmune diseases. Most of the damage is done during the final
fungal stages.
The cancer microbe badly damages the immune system, and
makes it incapable of fighting cancer cells or other invaders. It also
destroys the red blood cells making them incapable of carrying
oxygen into the tissue and organs.
The cancer microbe generally begins life as mycoplasma.
It commonly seems to arise internally from the disintegration of
diseased body cells and specifically from DNA fragments. With a
16
decline in health and vitality it begins to proliferate and starts
differentiating into various bacterial and later also fungal forms.
By weakening the immune system and the metabolism it prepares
the way for the development of degenerative diseases. Toxins
released by the cancer microbe may also interfere directly with the
respiratory chain and make the metabolism inefficient with an
overproduction of lactic acid. This causes general overacidity,
mineral deficiencies, over-sensitivity, inflammations and pain.
These are exactly the same symptoms that result from Candida
overgrowth.
Two factors that greatly contribute to the rise of the cancer microbe
from simple mycoplasmas are dead teeth, and overgrowth of the
intestines with Candida and other harmful microbes.
Dead teeth and the surrounding jawbone can become
concentrated breeding grounds of harmful microbes, releasing a
steady stream of toxins into the circulation. Overgrowth of the
gastro-intestinal tract with harmful microbes has the same effect
on an even larger scale, and is a main cause of autoimmune
diseases and Candida-related problems.
For a more detailed explanation of this area with links to videos
where one can see the devastating effect of these microbes in the
blood, see my article Pleomorphic Microbes - The Hidden Cause
of Cancer and Autoimmune Diseases at www.health-science-

Chapter 3

PRINCIPLES OF CANDIDA TREATMENT

Conventional medicine still largely ignores Candida and regards it

more as an opportunistic side-effect of other diseases rather than
a cause or seriously contributing factor. Commonly a medical
diagnosis of Candida infection is restricted to the following areas:
Skinfolds, including the anus and navel. There may be a red
rash with itching or burning, oozing a whitish fluid or pus from
patchy areas. This may also cause cracks and tiny cuts in the
corners of the mouth.
Vagina (called vulvo-vaginitis or vaginal thrush), there tends
to be a white or yellow discharge with redness, burning and
itching.
Penis, showing a red, scaly, itching and oozing rash. This is
mainly acquired from a partner with vaginal or oral thrush.
Oral thrush with creamy white patches on the tongue and the
side of the mouth, which may be itching or burning and
oozing.
Paronychia is an infection of the nail bed with painful swelling
and in severe cases oozing of pus. Such nails may become
white or yellow and separate from the skin.
The standard drug for gastro-intestinal Candida overgrowth is
Nystatin. It can act as a chelating agent by binding to mineral ions
and so should not be taken with mineral supplements. It is also
used in medicated creams and lotions for external applications.
Ketoconazole (Nizoral) and fluconazole (Diflucan) will be used for
18
stronger action, or if absorption into the blood is intended for a
systemic effect. Except for Nystatin, lengthy treatments are not
advisable because of potentially serious side-effects.
Medical treatment is often unsatisfactory because there is not
enough attention paid to using a suitable diet and replacement
therapy with high-potency lactobacteria. Therefore, a
comprehensive Candida therapy consists of three main
ingredients:
Sanitizing the gastro-intestinal tract by re-establishing healthy
intestinal flora.
Anti-microbial therapy to eliminate Candida and other
pathogenic microbes from the blood and inner organs.
An anti-Candida diet that discourages the growth of fungi and
nourishes good lactobacteria instead.
SANITIZING THE GASTRO-INTESTINAL TRACT
The main treatment for Candida and the antibiotic syndrome is
directed at sanitizing the gastro-intestinal tract. This is combined
with a low-allergy diet that is also low in simple carbohydrates.
Furthermore, moulds or yeasts in food should be avoided as their
breakdown products may cause unpleasant immune reactions. In
this way most acute problems can be overcome within weeks while
degenerated joints or organs can start a slower road to recovery.
One unpleasant side-effect of most methods used to reduce the
pathogenic microbial overgrowth in the intestines and blood is the
Herxheimer reaction - a sudden worsening of symptoms due to
toxins released by the dead or dying microbes. This is sometimes
used as a diagnostic tool, especially for Candida.
To avoid or minimize unpleasant side effects I recommend initially
flushing out the gastro-intestinal tract when taking anti-microbial
remedies. This takes the dead or dying microbes immediately out

19
of the body and greatly minimizes discomfort. After several days
the flush may no longer be needed. Usually the first reaction is the
strongest.
In addition it greatly helps to have a teaspoonful of psyllium hulls in
a large glass of water before breakfast. This tends to bind Candida
and bacterial toxins and helps to eliminate them as bowel
movements. The psyllium can even supply some food for the
beneficial bifidobacteria in the bowels and help them to multiply.
Another approach is to start with a low dose of an anti-microbial
and increase only very slowly. In this way the die-off symptoms are
milder but remain for much longer. With this method it is especially
important to maintain a strict diet.
I generally prefer the flush method, but if you cannot use that for
any reason, then try this slow approach. Individuals who are highly
sensitive and with multiple allergies generally should proceed very
slowly, remain on a stable low-allergy diet, use anti-inflammatory
remedies, such as slippery elm powder before meals and ginger
with meals, and introduce probiotics, lactic acid fermented food
and anti-microbials only very gradually.
Another principle is to take a high dose of probiotics or beneficial
lactobacteria about 30 minutes after the anti-microbial remedy, and
before eating or drinking anything containing carbohydrates.
Normally the intestinal wall is densely covered with microbes,
either beneficial or pathogenic ones. When we take beneficial
bacteria during Candida overgrowth, then the good bacteria cannot
get a foothold on the intestinal wall, and largely just pass through
the intestines.
Therefore we must first make some free space at the intestinal wall
by taking an anti-microbial agent, such as garlic. We need to wait a
while until the anti-microbial has cleared the stomach and then we
take a high-potency probiotic, commonly a culture of acidophilus
and bifido bacteria.
20
Now these good bacteria can easily occupy the vacated spaces at
the intestinal wall. However, if we do not follow up with probiotics,
then the next time we eat any carbohydrates the fungus will quickly
multiply and fill the empty spaces again.
In this way we can quickly regenerate a healthy intestinal flora.
However, it takes much longer to eliminate the spores and fungal
roots growing through the intestinal wall. Therefore we need to be
careful and continue avoiding or minimizing drugs and chemicals,
and use a suitable diet.
SYSTEMIC CANDIDA THERAPY
Furthermore, in long-standing conditions the fungus and other
microbes or parasites will have invaded the bloodstream and
lodged in other parts of the body. For this we need to take stronger
action. While continuing with high doses of raw garlic may show
good initial results, it is generally preferable to alternate between
different anti-microbial remedies.
Commonly used for this purpose are acidified and non-acidified
MMS (sodium chlorite), purified kerosene or gum turpentine, and
the herbal products wormwood, olive leaf and pau d’arco. Other
suitable methods are oxygen therapy, and an electronic blood
purifier or zapper.
A combination of these methods should be used until most or all of
the obvious symptoms of Candida or parasitic infection have
abated. This may be several months. This concentrated anti-
microbial therapy is likely to eliminate not only fungi but also most
harmful bacteria and viruses from the body, giving the immune
system a chance to get back into control. If Candida overgrowth is
suspected, any sexual partner should have at least a short
Candida treatment at the same time.
While it is advisable to start with a definite protocol as outlined in
Chapter 6, subsequently I encourage you to experiment. For
21
instance, instead of using a high dose of a specific anti-microbial
for 2 weeks, you may use 2 or 3 different ones in lower
concentrations on the same day. You may, for instance use olive
leaf extract in the morning, pau d'arco extract at lunch, and
acidified or non-acidified MMS, or a blood purifier/electronic zapper
at bedtime.
Another possibility is to use different anti-microbials at different
days of the week. In this way you may use olive leaf extract one
day, pau d'arco extract the next, then wormwood, MMS either
acidified or non-acidified, and then kerosene and gum turpentine.
On the last day you may use wormwood or an electronic zapper,
or have a rest-day. Also instead of dividing doses, you may just
take a higher amount once only in the morning or at bedtime.
Presently everyone who is not in excellent health can be assumed
to harbour fungi, mycoplasmas, and other pathogenic microbes.
Therefore it is not very useful to spend time, money and effort to
find out if you really do have Candida and should do an anti-
microbial treatment. Just do it, and repeat it in a milder form once a
year, or whenever health problems re-surface.
Some strong microbicides that destroy fungi, bacteria, viruses and
parasites may also harm our beneficial intestinal lactobacteria.
This applies mainly to high doses of acidified MMS, while the
others seem to have little detrimental effect on lactobacteria.
Further, if we have previously re-established a healthy intestinal
flora with garlic and probiotics, then the good bacteria will simply
grow back after each dose of an anti-microbial remedy.
However, if we have not re-established beneficial bacteria, and
Candida still prevails in the intestinal tract, then Candida will simply
re-grow after each dose, and it will take much longer to control. As
Candida is naturally present in small amounts, it is not necessary
to eliminate all of it from the intestines. The key point is that the
dominant species will remain dominant unless we do something
22
that kills bacteria but leaves fungi unharmed.
Nevertheless, it is advisable to play it safe and use probiotics from
time to time during prolonged anti-microbial therapy, and
especially immediately after terminating this therapy. Therefore,
once a day or several times a week you may take a probiotic about
30 minutes after the anti-microbial and before ingesting any
carbohydrate. Alternatively frequently use suitable lactic acid
fermented food.
After finishing a course of intensive anti-microbial therapy continue
taking probiotics for several weeks. Even after successful therapy,
Candida spores and dormant microbes remain in the body and can
re-emerge when we are chronically stressed. Therefore, repeat
this therapy whenever Candida or infection-related symptoms re-
appear or just remain on a long-term moderate maintenance
program.
In addition I recommend that everyone, not only ex-Candida
victims, repeat at least a short anti-microbial program once a year.
Most diseases, including autoimmune diseases, heart disease and
cancer, are associated with Candida and other pathogenic
microbes, and we can prevent much disease by periodically
eliminating these from our body.
Case of Intestinal Sanitation with Kerosene
This case is especially interesting because it has been verified by
microbial stool analysis. Several months after intestinal sanitation
a stool sample showed improvement in the severity of Candida
infestation, but there was still too much Candida activity, and also
Candida-related symptoms were still present.
For 6 weeks a spoonful of low-odour kerosene was taken before
breakfast. Then after a break of 8 weeks a further course followed
for another 4 weeks. During this time foods with white flour, sugar,
and yeast were avoided. There were no unpleasant side-effects
23
during this time.
After this cure all previous problems that were apparently related
to Candida had disappeared, together with the allergic reactions to
several foods. Another stool analysis showed that now the
intestinal flora was in excellent condition.
Biofilms
I believe prolonged use of kerosene is so effective because it is
able to penetrate and eliminate biofilms. In an hostile environment
many microbes have the ability to aggregate, form colonies and
protect themselves from attack with an impenetrable coating of
fibrin, calcifications and, especially in case of Candida, with a
heavy mucus coating that sticks to the walls of the intestines and
other mucous membranes. There they can stay dormant when
under heavy attack, and then become active again when friendly
bacteria or the immune system decline due to stress, drugs, poor
diet, etc.
Therefore, long-established Candida cannot be eliminated with
short courses of fungicides or a good diet, unless its protective
biofilm is removed. The most effective remedies for this need to be
able to penetrate and preferably dissolve this heavy mucus without
damaging our beneficial bacteria. Suitable remedies appear to be
long-term use of kerosene, Lugol's solution (or molecular iodine),
sodium thiosulphate or garlic, and possibly non-acidified MMS or
sodium chlorite. These contain or produce fungicidal solvents or
gases able to penetrate the mucus. Iodine is known for liquefying
sticky mucus.
Another excellent method is a 5-day Psyllium Cleanse as
described in Chapter 5. The intestines are filled with soft psyllium
that sticks to the intestinal walls, softens hardened crusts and
sticky mucus in which microbes are hiding. When finally flushing it
all out the biofilms will be dislodged as well, leaving the intestinal
walls clean, and any remaining Candida and parasites unprotected
24
against follow-up antimicrobial remedies. This is also essential in
case of bowel cancer, Crohn's disease and other inflammatory
bowel diseases.

Chapter 4

THE ANTI-CANDIDA DIET

Intestinal sanitation or re-establishing a healthy intestinal flora is

the first step of a two-step anti-microbial therapy to eliminate
Candida. The second step is systemic Candida therapy, or better
systemic anti-microbial therapy. Before starting with this two-step
program it is advisable to make some dietary changes and adopt
the following ANTI-CANDIDA DIET.
The main consideration of this diet is the fact that Candida, as all
fungi and yeasts, lives mainly on simple carbohydrates, especially
on sugars from foods or formed during digestion. These include
sugar and sweetened food, fruit and fruit juices, soft drinks,
alcohol, flour products, cereal and grain products.
Especially destructive is gluten, mostly from wheat, but to some
degree also from rye, and other gluten grains as it tends to cause
an inflammation of the intestinal wall that aggravates the leaky gut
syndrome caused by Candida.
Preferably eat only fresh foods, and avoid yeast fermented,
overripe, non-fresh and aged foods, such as cheeses, pickled and
dried fish, commercial soups, gravies, and fermented soy products
as all of these may cause strong allergic reactions.
Minimize or preferably avoid these foods, especially in the initial
stages before the intestinal flora has been normalized. As a
sweetener the herb stevia may be used, after intestinal sanitation
you may also try Xylitol and glycerine, but do not use any synthetic
sweeteners.
This means that you should base your initial diet on legumes and
26
vegetables in addition to protein-fat foods, such as meat, fish, egg,
and oily seeds. Preferably use mainly green vegetables, such as
spinach and those of the cabbage family, rather than potatoes and
cooked root vegetables such as carrots.
However, raw carrots and fresh raw vegetable salads in general
are slow-digesting and highly recommended, especially if
combined with sprouted legumes, such as lentils, mung beans,
green peas and chickpeas (also called garbanzo beans).
An excellent health food to sanitise the intestinal tract is to blend a
handful of fresh green leaves at high speed in water, and drink this
without straining. You may also add spirulina and other
supplements to it. The fibre and chlorophyll of the leaves provides
high-quality food for the resident bifidobacteria in the colon.
Legumes are high in a type of soluble fibre, raffinose, that is only
broken down in the large intestines. It is another excellent food for
bifidobacteria which is the main species that keeps Candida in the
bowels under control. Raffinose is a trisaccharide with the simple
sugars or monosaccharides galactose, fructose, and glucose
joined together. It is a soluble fibre and can be found in legumes,
members of the cabbage family, asparagus and other vegetables.
As a side-effect legumes tend to produce wind or flatulence which
can be reduced by sprouting these legumes, or by soaking them
overnight and replacing the water before cooking. This also greatly
improves the absorption of minerals by reducing the amount of
phytic acid in the seeds.
Also adopt other healthy cooking habits, such as avoiding or
minimising frying or heating of oils, aluminium cooking ware, and
microwave cooking. Continue to avoid wheat gluten and minimise
other gluten grains.
Be aware that many individuals are allergic to the casein in A1 milk
(the commonly available milk). Preferably use casein as in milk,
27
cheese and yogurt only after allergy testing, or alternatively use A2
milk or whey protein isolate.
Another valuable food for our bifidobacteria is inulin, a
polysacharide consisting mainly of long chains of fructose. This,
too, is only metabolised by bifidobacteria and other bacteria in the
large intestines. Inulin is widely distributed in vegetables, and
especially their roots. The highest amounts are in Jerusalem
artichokes, chicory roots, onions, leeks, artichokes and dandelion
leaves.
Ground linseed (made in a coffee grinder) and extra virgin olive oil
are especially good as they tend to protect the intestinal wall from
invasion by the rhizoid forms of Candida. Mix up to one tablespoon
of one or both with most meals.
If occasionally you prefer to be less restricted in your food choices,
you may experiment by eating some high carbohydrate food and at
the same time taking a suitable microbicide. This applies
especially to fruits and other foods high in easily digestible
carbohydrates, such as potatoes, rice, or cooked carrots.
A suitable microbicide may be a clove of raw garlic or several
capsules of extract powder of olive leaf or pau d'arco.
After intestinal sanitation and several weeks of systemic Candida
therapy this strict diet may be eased, especially in regard to root
vegetables, oats, and fruits. When bread is used again try to obtain
sourdough rye or spelt bread or bread baked with buckwheat flour.
Minimise yeast-baked bread, and especially wheat bread.
Continue with a restricted intake of simple carbohydrates and
foods containing yeasts and moulds until after the systemic anti-
microbial therapy. Ideally, you remain permanently on an improved
diet.
If you still have problems with fatigue and muscle weakness try
200 to 300 grams of green apples daily, best in the morning or
spaced out, for their content of L-malic acid. This can greatly
28
improve cellular energy production. The malic acid content in
green apples is about 0.6%, in unripe apples it is considerably
higher. Even higher is the malic acid content in sour cherries and
nectarines.
Apple juice with 3-5 grams per litre has too much sugar, and is not
suitable, but a small glassful of sour cherry juice with 5 to 6 times
this amount could be used. Also see SUPPLEMENTS later in this
chapter. You may need to reduce the acidity of malic acid in sour
juices by adding some alkalizer as shown in Chapter 8.
A strict diet with added garlic can already lead to considerable
improvement and die-off of Candida in the gastro-intestinal tract,
and by adding probiotics can help restore a normal intestinal flora.
But diet on its own is not normally sufficient to remove Candida
from blood, colon, lymph system and special hiding places. If you
have multiple allergies and are already on a low-allergy diet then
make any changes only very gradually.
AVOIDING MOULDY FOODS
Initially avoid all foods that contain yeast, or have been produced
from fungi, or may be mouldy. These include yeast baked
products; fermented beverages such as beer, wine, brandy, and
scotch; cider vinegar, salad dressing, peanuts and possibly other
nuts, commercial fruit juices, dried fruit, pickles, tomato sauce,
yeast powder, mouldy cheeses, ice cream, processed and smoked
meats, malt products, barbecue sauce, olives, and mayonnaise.
Also flour products are frequently contaminated with moulds.
Some individuals even react to manufactured citric acid as this has
been produced with the help of a fungus. Such citric acid is widely
used in many processed foods; therefore affected individuals
always need to read the labels of such products.
Moulds do not necessarily encourage Candida to grow but they
intensify any inflammations and immune reactions. Dietary yeasts
29
and moulds as well as mushrooms greatly increase the difficulties
of susceptible individuals, frequently causing allergic reactions and
flare-ups of Candida and allergies. In addition, some moulds may
damage the liver, for instance a mould that frequently grows on
peanuts and is present in peanut butter.
Moulds commonly grow on dried fruits and on poorly stored grains
and nuts, also on the outer leaves of cabbage and the skins of
various fruits. Moulds may be in food at such low levels that we
cannot taste or smell it. Cooking or processing does not help as
allergic reactions commonly are against the cell walls, regardless if
the fungi are dead or alive.
A study in the UK in 1977 found that moulds and their poisonous
myco-toxins (fungal toxins) were in all 318 samples of flour tested.
This mould contamination is due to insufficient drying in the
process of combine-harvesting grain. Wholemeal flour, bran and
wheat germ are even more affected by mould than is white flour.
Rice is also frequently contaminated.
Washing whole grains and nuts, susceptible fruits and vegetables
before cooking or eating helps to remove moulds; drying in the sun
destroys fungi and prevents their development. While dried fruit
are now commonly sulphur-treated to reduce growth of fungi, it is
preferable anyway to wash them before eating.
Food that has been refrigerated for several days, especially
cooked food, often has mould growth which may not be detected in
its early stages. With solid food, such as hard cheeses, you may
just discard a thin surface slice but mushy foods are best
discarded.
Frequently antibiotics are routinely added to animal feed for meat
production; this applies especially to poultry and pigs. Antibiotic
residues may impair the intestinal flora of the consumer of such
products and thereby encourage the spread of Candida.

30
In addition, the meat itself may be infested with Candida or other
fungi because of the prolonged use of antibiotics while, on the
other hand, resistant strains of harmful bacteria may be present. I
do not recommend habitually eating such meat. As a general rule I
recommend to avoid meat from feedlots.
FERMENTED FOOD
Lactic acid-fermented food can be very beneficial in re-supplying
suitable lactobacilli and bifidobacteria, but it can also cause
problems because it usually contains some strains of yeast. Such
yeasts can be beneficial and help suppressing Candida, but often
they can also cause unpleasant reactions.
The temperature inside the intestine is between 37-40°C, and this
is also the best fermentation temperature to encourage lactobacilli
and bifidobacteria to grow. Lower temperatures encourage more
fungi to grow. Therefore it is not advisable for Candida treatment to
ferment at room temperature, or use products that have been
produced at room temperature. This includes, for instance kefir,
sauerkraut, and rejuvelac. Rejuvelac is the liquid in which whole
grains have been soaked for a day, or until the liquid starts
bubbling and tastes slightly sour.
Not everyone will be sensitive to the yeasts in such products, and
for some they may even be beneficial. Nevertheless, initially it is
best to be very careful and use only products fermented around
40°C. Later you may start experimenting with lower fermentation
temperatures.
I also advise to be careful with yogurt. Some natural varieties may
be occasionally used, but frequent consumption causes problems.
Commercial yogurt usually is very high in lactose. In younger
individuals this is a main cause of colds and influenza, while in
older individuals the galactose part of lactose may lead to protein
cross-linking problems similar to that explained for arabinose in
Chapter 2.
31
Instead it is safer to use genuinely fermented quark and, if making
it yourself, discard the whey with most of the lactose in it. For
further details of the problems caused by lactose see Instant Cure
of the Common Cold at www.health-science-spirit.com/cold.htm.
Often (cold-processed) Whey Protein Isolate causes less allergy
and other problems than conventional milk products, and may to
some degree be used instead of milk.
SUPPLEMENTS
As a general supportive measure use a multivitamin tablet or
better B-complex with additional vitamin E, magnesium, selenium
and zinc. Also use fish oils in various forms (together with vitamin
E) for their anti-inflammatory properties. Digestive enzymes with
cooked foods help to minimize allergic reactions, and are
especially important with leaky gut syndrome.
Niacinamide or vitamin B3 in high doses can greatly increase
energy levels, and is especially good with muscle weakness, brain
fog, and cold hands and feet. The effective amount is usually 2 or
3 x 500 mg with meals.
Antioxidants help to protect against cross-linking damage as from
arabinose. Generally use a wide range of antioxidant supplements
and foods. Try 10 to 12 mg of astaxanthin a day, it is one of the
strongest antioxidants and especially good for the brain and skin.
With suspected viral infections temporarily take 200 to 400 mcg of
selenium daily, in addition to plenty of vitamin C and other
antioxidants.
A good protein supplement is one teaspoon of spirulina powder
and 2 tablespoons of whey protein isolate mixed with some
suitable food or drink. Spirulina may cause the stool to look dark-
green but that is good, showing that you are taking enough to help
heal the intestinal wall. To encourage the growth of bifidobacteria
you may also add a teaspoon of inulin powder.

32
Iodine helps to protect the mucous membranes from invading
fungi. The listed values for iodine in kelp vary widely from about
240 mcg or 0.24 mg to 1.5 mg/g. If you do not know how much
iodine is in your kelp or seaweed you may assume a value of 0.6
mg/g. Gradually increase to 1 teaspoon in divided doses with
meals or use tablets.
If there is no negative reaction then I actually prefer a maintenance
dose of 1 or 2 drops of Lugol's solution once a day, supplying 6.5
mg per drop, as this helps to protect not only from fungi but also
from the development of cysts in breasts, uterus, ovaries and
bowels.
Always increase the dose of iodine gradually as it can cause
temporary over-activity of the thyroid gland in susceptible
individuals with rapid pulse, overheating, fatigue and headaches.
This can be especially a problem for individuals on medications for
thyroid, heart or when on steroids. If you suspect a problem then
just cut back on your iodine intake.
If muscle weakness and fatigue are a problem try also malic acid,
preferably in addition to magnesium. A normal daily dose may be
1.5 to 2 grams of L-malic acid and about 500 mg of magnesium as
chloride, or possibly as magnesium malate tablets or capsules.
Use these in divided doses with or before meals. Taking too much
can cause diarrhoea.
L-malic acid is the natural form and preferable but also much more
expensive than the racemic D,L-malic acid. The D,L-form has only
half the strength as the L-form. It generally appears to be safe and
beneficial, and for long-term use you may need to test both forms
to see which one give the better cost benefit.
Further Nutritional Support
Several additional nutrients can be used to improve more serious
conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease and leaky gut syndrome.
33
Taking the amino acid L-glutamine before meals helps to protect
the cells of the intestinal lining from damage. Glutamine provides
energy and is also converted into N-acetyl glucosamine, which is
required for regenerating the intestinal wall. The cells of the
intestinal mucosa generally have a high rate of turnover, but
patients with inflammatory bowel disease have a turnover rate at
least 3 times higher than healthy individuals. N-acetyl glucosamine
is also required for all other cells in the body, it is a main
component of cartilage, it holds individual cells together,
strengthens the immune system, and has anti-viral, anti-arthritic
and anti-cancer properties.
Those with inflammatory bowel disease cannot make sufficient N-
acetyl glucosamine. This deficiency leads to further intestinal
damage including increased permeability and leaky gut syndrome.
Supplementing N-acetyl glucosamine in addition to glutamine can
help heal the intestinal mucosa by supporting glycoprotein
synthesis.
Try 1 to 3g of L-glutamine and N-acetyl glucosamine before each
meal.
Alkalizing minerals reduce the common overacidity and severity of
allergic reactions; magnesium, zinc, biotin, and multivitamins
minimize existing deficiency symptoms, selenium is essential for
the immune system, and a teaspoon of slippery elm powder in
warm water before meals eases discomfort due to gastro-intestinal
inflammations. The amino acid L-carnitine helps to improve energy
by channelling fatty acids into cells, even better is the related
acetyl L-carnitine.
Further nutritional support is provided by digestive enzymes with
meals, high-quality proteins (spirulina, chlorella, bee-pollen, barley
or wheat grass juice or powder), and fish oils mixed with lecithin.
Because of possible fat malabsorption fish oils, including halibut
liver oil and other fat-soluble nutrients such as Coenzyme Q10
34
may also be rubbed into sensitive areas of the skin, for this you
may use odourless fish oils. Even better, especially for individuals
who have difficulty gaining weight is Krill Oil. In advanced and
difficult conditions such as cachexia retention enemas or implants
with wheat or barley grass juice or extracts of protein powders may
be used.

Chapter 5

INTESTINAL SANITATION

Intestinal sanitation or restoring a healthy gastro-intestinal flora is

probably the most important step to overcome Candida and related
fungus problems. It consist of a combination of antimicrobial and
especially anti-fungal remedies, diet as well as probiotics and
prebiotics. Probiotics are cultures of suitable live microbes to
repopulate the intestines, while prebiotics are the food on which
these beneficial microbes grow best.
You prepare for intestinal sanitation by improving your diet as
outlined in the previous chapter. Then you start with the garlic
cleanse but if you find that you cannot tolerate garlic or cannot use
it for social reasons then experiment with other microbicides to find
a suitable replacement.
THE GARLIC CLEANSE
Fresh, raw garlic has powerful anti-microbial and especially
fungicidal powers. Even in a dilution of more than 1:1000 it still kills
bacteria and fungi. When garlic is crushed its enzymes form allicin
from the stable alliin. Allicin has an active oxygen atom that kills
microbes by oxidizing the cell walls. Lactobacilli also tend to kill
other microbes with oxygen (from hydrogen peroxide), and
therefore are less susceptible to garlic than Candida.
To minimize unpleasant reactions, such as headaches, nausea
and other gastro-intestinal discomfort it is preferable initially to take
the garlic together with a strong laxative. This is called a flush. An
effective flush is with a tablespoon of Epsom salts (magnesium
sulphate) or Glauber's salt (sodium sulphate) in a large glass of
36
water. Drink some more water afterwards.
If you are constipated or overweight you may even take 2
tablespoons when using it for the first time to make sure that it
quickly does come out at the other end. To make it taste not so
bitter you may refrigerate the dissolved laxative salts overnight. In
the morning you crush a large clove of garlic, mix and drink it with
a small amount of water, and follow this with the refrigerated drink
and some more water.
During the following mornings you may use less of the laxative
salts or take a milder laxative instead. Do this for a minimum of
three days, and in advanced conditions preferably for one to two
weeks before starting with the systemic therapy. With bowel
problems it can be very helpful in addition to swallow a peeled
clove of garlic whole at bedtime with some liquid.
If you cannot take garlic, and also for children, you may put the
crushed or chopped garlic into gelatine capsules. If you cannot
take garlic for other reasons then use one or several of the other
anti-microbial remedies mentioned in the next chapter; similar if
you can use garlic only during the weekend because of work or
social conditions.
Psyllium Hulls
Psyllium hulls greatly expand to form a jelly when mixed with
water. This can be used as a mild laxative to carry the microbicide
through the whole of the intestinal tract, and it also binds toxic
microbial compounds and removes them from the body.
However, the effect of psyllium depends on the amount of water in
which it is suspended. If too little water is used then it becomes too
concentrated or sticky and is then constipating. This can be useful
in case of diarrhoea, but for use as a laxative it needs to be taken
with plenty of water.

37
Preferably continue to take psyllium for most of the time that you
are long as you have related health problems. If you are not
constipated and have already several daily bowel movements then
you may even start the garlic cleanse with psyllium instead of the
laxative salts.
Before breakfast put half a teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate and a
clove of chopped garlic or another suitable microbicide in a large
glass of water. Finally add a rounded teaspoon of psyllium hulls,
stir and drink immediately followed by more water.
Psyllium Cleanse: After a week or longer of taking a teaspoon of
psyllium before breakfast and possibly before lunch, you may try a
five-day psyllium cleanse to remove the heavy mucus coating or
biofilm which protects intestinal Candida from most fungicides.
Preferably use only freshly pressed vegetable juices but possibly
flavoured with apple. Drink very slowly. At least half the juice
should be from celery, grass and green leaves. In addition or
instead of using juice you may puree a handful of fresh leaves,
such as spinach or silver beet, at high speed in a blender and drink
without straining. If you cannot make juice or obtain fresh green
leaves you may eat, spaced out, some green or tart apples or
some raw vegetable salads.
Every 3 hours, or 5 times daily, take a teaspoon of psyllium hulls
with a microbicide and sodium bicarbonate in a large glass of
water, drink immediately followed by more water. Optionally you
may also add a teaspoon or two of ground linseed, and preferably
take with each glassful of juice also a capsule each of bromelain
and papain to help break down the mucus coating.
As microbicide I prefer one that has the ability to penetrate
biofilms, such as chopped garlic, 5 to 10 drops of Lugol's solution,
a capsule of sodium thiosulphate, or 5 to 10 drops of non-acidified
MMS (sodium chlorite).

38
On the morning after the last juice day and at bedtime the night
before, take a tablespoon of magnesium salts in water, or enough
laxative to produce a strong bowel cleanout in the morning.
You may sit on a bucket to investigate what has come out; often
there are long strings and parts of compacted matter looking like
sections of bowel. These are the hiding places of Candida,
parasites and bacteria causing inflammatory bowel conditions. It is
advisable to increase the variety of food very gradually and
possibly doing allergy testing at the same time.
If there is discomfort during the cleanse from bloating or other
intestinal problems, and it becomes too uncomfortable, then just
take a laxative or enema to flush it all out and try again at a later
time. Continue for a long time with moderate amounts of
antimicrobial remedies to prevent the fungi that live within the
bowel wall and its spores to become re-established.
PROBIOTICS
This leads us to the next step: replacing the decimated pathogenic
microbes with desirable lactobacilli. This is best done in a big dose
30-60 minutes after each flush; otherwise the unwanted microbes
may just grow back to full strength after the next meal.
Acidophilus culture is used to repopulate the freed-up spaces at
the walls of the small intestines, while bifidobacteria are the
protective inhabitants of the colon or large intestines. There are
also other lactobacteria naturally residing in our intestinal tract.
These bacterial cultures are available from health food shops as
powders in brown glass bottles that are best refrigerated before
and after sale.
It is difficult to find a good culture. As a general rule look for a
product that…
has been grown on seeds and vegetables rather than on milk,

39
which has a large variety of different bacterial strains, and
which has been produced and is best used at temperatures
from 37 to 40°C.
Fermented liquids, such as Kefir or Kombucha tend to be rather
acidic and this can cause over-acidity problems in sensitive
individuals. You can avoid this problem by partly neutralizing the
acidity with sodium bicarbonate, magnesium carbonate or dolomite
powder.
If there is vaginal thrush, then initially douche with a suitable
microbicide and follow this with probiotics culture.
Zell-Oxygen
If a test amount of Zell Oxygen does not cause a reaction then you
may try it for a longer period. Zell-Oxygen, described as a Live Cell
Oxygen Immunocomplex, is claimed to be beneficial in overcoming
Candida problems. It is a live aerobic yeast - Saccharomyces
Cerevisaie - that is antagonistic to Candida albicans. In clinical
studies Zell-Oxygen caused a 50-100 times decrease in the
Candida population, and with this prevented its uncontrolled
overgrowth. In addition, due to its aerobic nature, Zell-Oxygen
improves cellular respiration and immune functions.
You may gradually increase up to 4 dessertspoons daily for
several weeks, and after then continue with 1 or 2 spoonfuls for a
longer period. For supply sources see the Internet.
PREBIOTICS
Prebiotics or the food that we provide for our intestinal flora is
usually even more important than the relatively few probiotic
bacteria that we can supply as supplements. These nutrients
determine which microbial species will thrive and which ones will
not do well.
The easily digestible carbohydrates from sugar and grain products
40
favour Candida and other yeasts but can also lead to overgrowth
of various bacteria in the small intestines.
Commercially available soluble but indigestible fibre, called FOS or
fructosoligosaccharides, helps to stimulate the growth of beneficial
intestinal bacteria. This is the fibre in fruit without the sugar. FOS
are mainly composed of several fructose molecules linked
together. While preferable to simple carbohydrates as food for our
intestinal flora, FOS can also be used by pathogenic bacteria in the
colon.
In addition, some types of commercial FOS are produced by
feeding sucrose to the fungus Aspergillus niger. Yeast sensitive
individuals may react to this product which is mainly used in
processed foods. The better type of FOS is produced by splitting
the much longer fructose chains of inulin derived from vegetable
sources.
Generally inulin powder is the better supplement to use for
stimulating growth of bifidobacteria in the colon, and this is one of
the more effective ways of keeping Candida in the colon under
control.
Inulin is a fine white powder with a slightly sweet taste and is more
pleasant to eat and more beneficial than non-dissolvable fibres like
bran. It is regarded as suitable and safe for all age groups,
including pregnant and lactating women.
The recommended intake of inulin is from 5 to10 grams or 1 to 2
teaspoons once or twice daily. The amount should be increased
gradually as it may cause loose bowel motions and increased wind
or flatulence. This cannot be entirely avoided but experiment to
keep it in acceptable limits. Also the amount of supplemented
inulin may need to be adjusted according to the amount of
legumes used which can create an additional gas problem due to
their content of raffinose and related compounds as explained in
the previous chapter.
41
Here are some data for the inulin content in foods:
Chicory roots 15-20%, Jerusalem artichokes 14-19%, garlic 9-
16%, dandelion leaves 12-15%, onions 2-6%, leeks 3-10%,
artichoke leaves 3-10%, and bananas 0.3-0.7%.

Chapter 6

SYSTEMIC CANDIDA THERAPY

Candida overgrowth in the gastrointestinal tract can easily become

systemic, with Candida and other microbes infesting the blood and
being carried to other locations in the body. Therefore it is
important to follow the intestinal sanitation with systemic anti-
microbial therapy to clean the bloodstream, lymph fluid and
internal organs of Candida and other pathogenic microbes.
There is a fairly wide range of remedies available that eliminate not
only fungi but also bacteria, viruses and parasites. These include
iodine, MMS or sodium chlorite, and the herbal remedies olive leaf,
pau d’arco and wormwood.
Further supportive methods are colloidal silver, oxygen therapy,
coconut oil or caprylic acid (Capricin), wormwood, purified
kerosene, gum turpentine, and also an electronic blood purifier.
Some other good anti-microbial remedies are propolis, neem oil,
and the oils of cinnamon, eucalyptus, lavender, mustard, oregano,
tea tree, and thyme. You may try using 1 to 2 drops of essential oil
four times daily ingested or kept in the mouth.
It can be helpful to alternate between different remedies in cycles
from daily to weekly and longer. With this rotation it is less likely
that microbes will become treatment resistant. Also, if a strain of
microbes is resistant to one of the remedies it may be eliminated
with one of the others. Further, instead of using high doses of any
one remedy you may try moderate amounts of several different
remedies taken at different times at the same day, and you may
also continue taking fresh raw garlic.

43
Depending on the severity of your symptoms you may continue
this systemic therapy for one to two months, or until you feel that
your Candida or microbe-related problems have disappeared or
are under control. Then you may continue for a much longer time
with a reduced maintenance dose. If symptoms come back later
on, possibly cause by stressful conditions, hospitalization or
unsuitable diet then just repeat the systemic treatment.
During this time it is preferable to continue taking probiotics daily
30 to 60 minutes after one of the anti-microbial remedies. Phase
out anti-microbial therapy gradually. Continue taking probiotics and
prebiotics for several weeks after finishing this systemic therapy
and occasionally during a longer maintenance therapy.
The recommended dosages are for average body weight,
overweight individuals may take somewhat more and underweight
individuals or children somewhat less. These remedies may not be
suitable in high doses during pregnancy, in this case consult a
health professional. For maintenance you may use half the
indicated amounts and may have periodic breaks from therapy to
see if Candida remains under control.
It is common to experience occasional bouts of diarrhoea during
anti-microbial therapy. This may be from die-back reactions of
Candida and other microbes, but it may also be from toxins
released by the liver. Often this can be associated with headaches
and intestinal discomfort. In this case make an attempt to clean the
intestinal tract with psyllium, garlic and lots of water, and also with
enemas and possibly colonics. The quicker you get such irritating
toxic material out of your system the better.
Iodine Therapy
Iodine is an excellent fungicide, and I preferred to start the
systemic therapy with Lugol's solution. However, due to pressure
by health authorities it is now difficult to obtain this trusted remedy,
and you may instead start with one of the other recommended
44
anti-microbials. Those who are still able to use iodine may follow
the following guidelines.
Full-strength Lugol's solution contains 10% of potassium iodide
and 5% iodine. Each drop contains 6.5 mg of iodine/iodide. If you
have a 2% iodine solution then take 2.5 times more drops than for
the standard 5% solution. Iodoral tablets available in the US have
13 mg iodine/iodide per tablet. Iosol, an iodine/ammonium iodide
remedy has 1.8 mg of iodine/iodide per drop.
Before starting take a drop to test for allergies. With the standard
program you gradually increase up to 10 drops of Lugol's solution
3 times daily with food or drink. Continue for 3 weeks with the full
dose, but interrupt or reduce the dose while you experience a
reaction. After the 3 weeks continue with 1 or 2 drops daily for a
much longer time. When on thyroid medication, or with goitre or an
overactive thyroid, it is usually beneficial to increase gradually to 1
drop daily but do not go any higher.
Olive Leaf
Olive leaf is used as tea, powder or extract to eliminate all kinds of
microbes. The active ingredient is oleuropein. Use up to 1000 mg
of oleuropein daily as part of the anti-microbial rotation program.
Dried olive leaf has about 30 mg of oleuropein/g.
Preferably use extracts in powder form and stir half a teaspoon in
water or other non-protein liquid two or three times daily before
meals or away from proteins. The normal retail form is as 500 mg
capsules. In this case you may use up to 10 capsules daily.
Some liquid commercial extracts contain only 4 mg of oleuropein
per ml and are not suitable. In powder form olive leaf extract
commonly has 200 to 220 mg/g.
Elenolic acid, one of the hydrolysis products of oleuropein,
destroys or inhibits the growth of many kinds of roundworm,
hookworm, tapeworm and flatworm parasites, in addition to
45
bacteria, viruses and fungi. Olive leaf extract is also widely used by
HIV and AIDS patients.
Pau d'arco
Pau d’arco (also called taheebo or lapacho) is a strong fungicide
from the inner bark of a South American tree. As a tea it has the
advantage of tasting reasonably pleasant. It also works against
various bacteria and viruses. Either use extract or make tea: one
tablespoon of bark or a heaped teaspoon of powder in a large cup
of water. Bring to boil and let simmer or steep for 5 to 15 minutes;
drink 3 cups a day.
Powdered pau d’arco in capsules or cold water does not work.
However, you may use pau d’arco extract in capsules. Use 3
capsules of extract 3 times daily or half a teaspoon of extract
powder twice daily. Pau d’arco is not standardized, and the quality
of the product can be rather variable.
Wormwood
Wormwood is effective against most microbes, including bacteria,
viruses, parasites, and especially fungi. Commonly used for
Candida is Artemisia absinthium, but also Artemisia annua or
Sweet Annie can be used.
To avoid the bitter taste of A. absinthium stir a rounded teaspoon
of powder in some cold water or juice and drink immediately. Use
a teaspoonful three times daily. However, the bitter qualities of
wormwood tea stimulate the digestive system - stomach,
pancreas, liver and gall bladder. It has been used as a folk remedy
to cure jaundice.
Generally, it is easiest to take by getting it down quickly and,
before breathing again, drinking something pleasant afterwards.
For children and over-sensitive taste buds you may also use
wormwood powder in capsules (3 to 5 capsules 3 times daily), or
use only Sweet Annie.
46
MMS – Sodium Chlorite
Acidified sodium chlorite (NaClO2) is one of the strongest broad-
range microbicides, and is used as an antimicrobial treatment in
the food industry and for water purification. In solution it is very
alkaline and stable but when acidified or activated it forms unstable
chlorous acid and chlorine dioxide gas (ClO2) with strong oxidising
effects.
As part of the systemic therapy you may start taking 1 or 2 drops
of MMS and gradually increasing this up to a maximum of 15 drops
daily or until some nausea develops. In this case you may cut back
by 2 drops and stay at this level for several days until increasing
again by 1 drop a day. Generally it is better to have some food in
the stomach. One can also absorb the gas from the mouth or the
rectum and this usually does not cause nausea.
In all cases mix the MMS with five times the number of drops of
lemon juice or white vinegar but preferably with a more effective
10% solution of citric acid in water. You can make this yourself by
dissolving 1 part of citric acid crystals in 9 parts of water (watch out
for the possibility of allergy to commercial citric acid).
Three minutes after adding the acids add half a glass of water,
herb tea, or juice without added vitamin C, e.g. apple or grape
juice but not orange juice. Do not take any antioxidant
supplements close to MMS; generally keep them 3 or more hours
apart.
To quickly stop nausea you may take 1000 mg or more of vitamin
C, but this also stops the anti-microbial activity. To avoid or
minimize oxidative damage I recommend taking MMS only in the
morning and evening or only once a day and use a combination of
antioxidants, including vitamin C, at lunchtime or several hours
away from the MMS. To minimize unpleasant side effects try to
alkalize the body before going on a course of MMS.

47
The main danger after a high dose of MMS is from low blood
pressure and hypoglycaemic shock due to fluid loss after vomiting
and diarrhoea. If this should happen take immediately a high dose
of vitamin C to stop the reaction, lie down, and drink lots of lightly
salted and sweetened water. A general recommendation for
rehydrating after vomiting and diarrhoea is a fluid made with 6
level teaspoons of sugar and 1/2 level teaspoon of salt dissolved in
1 litre of water, or alternatively use salted rice water. Further,
Individuals with a tendency to haemolytic anaemia must avoid
MMS and other oxidising substances.
A recent addition to the MMS arsenal is MMS2 or calcium
hypochlorite. It may be used for killing Candida, and parasites in
the lower intestinal tract. For details see: www.health-science-
spirit.com/MMS2.htm.
The oral absorption method helps to avoid nausea and is
effective with smaller doses then swallowing it. For this you may
use from 1 to 6 drops. It is especially good with oral thrush, and for
clearing the headspaces of fungi, such as the sinuses with mold
sensitivity.
To 1 part of MMS add 5 parts of 10% citric acid and after 3
minutes dilute with about 30 ml or a big mouthful of water, and
after waiting a few minutes for chlorine dioxide to develop, add up
to 5 parts of a 10% sodium bicarbonate solution to protect the
teeth from acid attack. You may keep this in the mouth for 5 to 20
minutes before spitting it out. You make the 10% bicarb solution by
dissolving one level spoonful of bicarb in 9 spoonfuls of water.
The rectal absorption method is good with Candida overgrowth
in the bowels, and also with rectal or prostate cancer, irritable
bowel, and infections, cysts and cancers of the female organs.
Preferably have a bowel movement followed by an enema with
warm water, and then another one with 2 activated drops of MMS
in 250 ml of water. Hold for several minutes, then expel, clean
48
again with an enema and finally insert a larger number of drops,
perhaps 4 to 6 activated drops in 250 ml water and hold for a
longer time, up to 30 minutes. As with oral absorption you may
also add some bicarbonate to make it less acidic. Protect the anus
with some Vaseline. There tends to be no direct discomfort, but for
several hours afterwards energy may be low, and several cleanout
bowel movements may follow. You may try this once a week with
gradually increasing doses.
In case of vaginal thrush you may also try one activated drop
suitably diluted and later followed by some probiotics. Also try the
mouthwash solution.
Mouthwash: To eliminate pathogenic microbes and inflammations
in the mouth dilute a teaspoon of MMS in 500 ml of water. This is
only slightly alkaline and tends to release small amounts of
chlorine dioxide in contact with acid-forming mouth bacteria. It is
also commercially promoted as the most effective method of
removing bad breath or halitosis by oxidising smelly sulphur
compounds to non-odorous sulphates. Swish a mouthful around
for a short time, gargle, and spit out. One teaspoonful of
mouthwash contains about one drop of MMS.
Non-Acidified MMS is a mild form of treating autoimmune
diseases and chronic infections, and especially for neutralising the
toxic effects of acetaldehyde (brain-fog) produced by Candida and
other fungi. In this way acetaldehyde is oxidized to the beneficial
acetic acid or vinegar. This may also help with kidney and bladder
infections. In these cases the solution is not acidified!
After a short period of systemic Candida therapy with acidified
MMS you may continue using non-acidified MMS. This is much
less damaging to antioxidants in the body than prolonged use of
acidified MMS, and the incidence of nausea will be greatly
reduced.
As an average dose try 5 to 10 drops (or half a ml) of MMS once a
49
day after the evening meal or at bedtime in a drink. Use this
periodically, e.g. for one week every other week, and limit this
program to 6 to 10 weeks (3 to 5 cycles) before a longer break of
one or more months. Alternatively use it 5 days a week for 3 to 5
weeks. During breaks use higher amounts of other antimicrobials
instead.
Borax
Borax and boric acid contain boron and are excellent fungicides
with additional wide-ranging antimicrobial properties, and also
chelating fluoride and heavy metals.
Dissolve a lightly rounded teaspoonful (5-6 grams) of borax in 1
litre of good quality water (no chlorine or fluoride). This is your
concentrated solution. Keep this bottle out of reach of small
children.
One 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of concentrate is the standard dose with 25
to 30 mg of borax and provides about 3 mg of boron. Start with
one dose mixed with drink or food. Gradually increase to the
chosen maximum intake. The minimum effective dose when used
as fungicide is about 100mg of borax.
For individuals with low to normal weight the recommended daily
maximum amount is 500mg or 100 ml of the concentrated solution;
drink spaced out during the day. Heavier individuals may use a
maximum of 1 gram or 200 ml of concentrated solution. Take the
maximum amount for up to 1 month and then alternate with
another microbicide. However, continue taking a maintenance
amount of 2 or 3 doses daily.
Borax is rather alkaline and in higher concentrations has a soapy
taste. You may disguise this with lemon juice, vinegar or ascorbic
acid. Also see http://www.health-science-spirit.com/borax.htm.

Chapter 7

SUPPORTIVE MEASURES

While using the systemic therapy, you may use additional

measures to strengthen the overall effect. You may, for instance,
continue to use raw garlic and coconut oil. Instead of one of the
systemic remedies, or better in addition to it, you may use colloidal
silver, oxygen therapy, caprylic acid, monolaurin, undecylenic acid,
sodium thiosulfate, and use an electronic blood purifier or zapper.
Some other antifungal remedies are propolis, extracts of neem
leaves, and the oils of tea tree, neem tree, cinnamon, eucalyptus,
mustard, oregano, and thyme. It is also important to keep the body
alkaline because inflammations and pain get much worse if the
body is too acid.
However, there are also two therapies which can be surprisingly
effective but which I want to mention only here because of the
information war that health authorities use against these methods,
and also because of some genuine dangers with their use,
although I regard them as being much safer than most medical
drugs. These are Low-Odour Kerosene and Pure Gum Turpentine.
Both have been used medicinally in former centuries and are still
being used at present in many poorer countries. Gum turpentine
can change greatly in its composition depending on the type of
tree from which it comes. Use these products only after informing
yourself about possible benefits and dangers. For more
information see: Kerosene - A Universal Healer at www.health-
science-spirit.com/kero.htm.

51
Kerosene
Kerosene is surprisingly effective and for many individuals easier
to take than acidified MMS. A comparison of several disinfectants
found that kerosene, while not controlling the tested bacteria, had
the strongest effect on suppressing Candida, stronger even than a
sodium hypochlorite bleach. This may actually be the secret of
kerosene's healing success: it suppresses Candida and
mycoplasmas or cell-wall deficient microbes while not harming our
normal gut bacteria.
The lighter fractions are mainly absorbed in the stomach while
those with a boiling point above 200°C move mostly through the
whole of the intestinal tract with a laxative effect. The most suitable
boiling range is from about 100 to 200°C.
A suitable variety of kerosene in Australia is Diggers Low Odour
Kerosene available from hardware stores rather than
supermarkets. Also Diggers White Spirits and Diggers Mineral
Turpentine have the same chemical composition as Low Odour
Kerosene. The boiling range is from 149 to 194°C. Recochem also
have odourless kerosene, but with 190 to 230°C the boiling range
is too high and not effective for purifying the blood but it could work
for cleaning the large intestines.
Apart from a suitable boiling range good kerosene should also be
low in aromatics. This is basically what 'low odour' means. To see
if products from other companies or in other countries are suitable
go to the website of the manufacturer and look up the Material
Safety Data Sheet or MSDS. It may not be sold as kerosene but
rather as naphtha petroleum, hydrocarbon solvent or mineral
turpentine. However, it is not advisable to use products without
knowing their boiling range and chemical composition. It should be
petrochemical based aliphatic hydrocarbons, and not half-synthetic
isoparaffins or special solvent mixtures available from art supplies
as aromatics-free mineral turpentine.
52
Shell Chemicals has 2 suitable products free of aromatics:
ShellSol D40, with a boiling range of 145 - 210°C, and the lower
boiling SBP 100/140. BP White Spirits, low in aromatics, boils from
142 to 200°C. The Total Group offers Spirdane D40, free of
aromatics and boiling from 156 to 198°C, while Solane 100-155
and Solane 100-140 have lower boiling ranges. ExxonMobil offers
Exxsol D30 with a range from 142 to 156°C, and Exxsol D40
boiling between 163 and 187°C. With products of narrow boiling
ranges It is best to combine high and low boiling fractions for a
broader boiling range.
These products may be available in stores for building materials
and paint supplies or larger hardware stores, or from the Internet.
Nevertheless, if a low-aromatic product is not available then even
normal kerosene may be used. It is not more toxic but only has a
stronger odour. A really toxic product is benzene but this boils at
80°C and therefore is not a problem in fractions boiling over
100°C.
To see if a product is suitable you can go to the website of the
manufacturer and look up the boiling range and that it is aliphatic
and preferably low in aromatics, you may also find this information
in the MSDS. (Material Safety Data Sheets)
The dosage and duration of a course are rather flexible. Generally
it may be best starting with half a teaspoon, then continue with one
teaspoon for a week or two and gradually increasing up to one
tablespoon for a week or two until ending again with one
teaspoonful for a total duration of about 6 weeks. This may be
repeated as needed.
It is best taken before breakfast or at bedtime, possibly with a
small amount of molasses or followed with a piece of fruit. For
children it has been used as several drops on sugar. The higher
doses tend to cause diarrhoea and liver detoxification. While this is
basically beneficial, it usually causes unpleasant symptoms.
53
Whenever a problem arises reduce or temporarily stop the intake.
Turpentine
Dr Jennifer Daniels discovered that American slaves had a secret
remedy that kept them free of diseases - a teaspoon of turpentine
mixed with a teaspoon of white sugar. She adopted this as a
successful Candida therapy. She slowly poured a teaspoon of
turpentine over sugar cubes so that all of the liquid was soaked up.
Then she chewed the cubes and washed them down with some
water. She generally recommended doing this twice a week for
several weeks or until the problem was fixed, but initially more
often with severe Candida. Results used to be produced
surprisingly fast.
Dr Daniels states that it is essential to clean the bowels before
starting turpentine therapy, and that at this time one needs to have
3 daily bowel movements, otherwise the pathogens may get into
the blood. She also believes that the use of sugar in this case is
beneficial to stop the sugar craving so common with Candida, and
to make it more attractive for Candida to take the poisoned sugar.
When I tried it out I was surprised how pleasant it tasted, just like a
pine-flavoured lolly. For children this, too, was used only as
several drops on sugar. Also for adults with severe Candida
problems I recommend starting with only a few drops. You may
also use turpentine once or twice a week and in between take
kerosene or another fungicide.
Instead of using sugar, I believe it is even more effective to take
turpentine diluted with a spoonful of paraffin oil or olive oil which
will ensure that it passes through the whole of the intestinal tract.
This is especially important with diseases of the large intestines
such as parasites, cancer and inflammatory bowel conditions. In
this case you may eat a small amount of food afterwards to get it
all down.

54
Coconut Oil
The medium-chain saturated fatty acids in coconut oil are potent
antimicrobial agents. They appear to work by causing microbial
cell walls to disintegrate. However it may not work well for
individuals with fat malabsorption and other digestive and liver
problems. In this case the key fatty acid monolaurin may be used
instead in addition to the related remedy undecylenic acid.
Try gradually increasing up to 4 tablespoons of coconut oil
spread out during the day, and after improvement you may
reduce this to 2 tablespoons for several more weeks. Always mix
coconut oil with food and lecithin, and chew well to emulsify. This
seems to be effective against systemic as well as localized
infestations, including those of the genitals. However, it is
advisable to apply coconut oil topically as well. The best
commercial product is cold-pressed or virgin coconut oil.
Colloidal Silver
Colloidal silver has a long history in medicine as a natural
antibiotic. It is effective in killing bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites
and the cancer microbe. Commonly the strength is 5 ppm, or up to
50 ppm in very concentrated remedies; the smaller the colloid
particles the better. During acute conditions or as systemic therapy
use several tablespoonfuls three times daily, and then continue
with a gradually reducing dose for several weeks longer. Keep
each spoonful for one or two minutes in the mouth before
swallowing. Store colloidal silver in a brown glass bottle, and in a
dark and cool place as light will precipitate the silver and make it
ineffective.
Colloidal silver works best if applied directly to the site of infection.
Use it to gargle, as vaginal douche, as a colonic, or for skin
infections. Most of it is ionic silver which forms ineffective silver
chloride in the stomach when swallowed. Nevertheless, the
amount that does pass the stomach can still be effective. Newly
55
developed remedies called covalent or nano silver are claimed to
be much more effective than common colloidal silver and are not
precipitated in the stomach.
Hydrogen Peroxide
In self-help therapy hydrogen peroxide and ozone were frequently
used but are now largely replaced by remedies listed in Chapter 6.
Nevertheless, hydrogen peroxide is easy to obtain and may still be
used as a supplementary remedy. A healthy immune system
routinely produces hydrogen peroxide to kill microbes.
You may dilute 35% hydrogen peroxide, or buy 3% or 6% peroxide
from a supermarket or pharmacy. Stabilizers present in some of
these products are usually harmless. Best dilute peroxide for daily
use to about 3% by adding 1 part of 35% peroxide to 10 parts of
water.
Start taking just a few drops in a glass of water. Gradually increase
to 1 teaspoon or more four times daily before meals and at
bedtime. If you develop an aversion against it, just decrease again
to a more comfortable level. Swallow quickly instead of slowly
sipping. To disguise the strong aftertaste, add aloe vera gel and
fruit flavours, or herb tea, or water flavored with cinnamon.
You may continue this for a month or two and then reduce the
intake to only once before breakfast. In addition, use hydrogen
peroxide to rinse your mouth, and gargle morning and evening. It
helps with thrush and to prevent colds and other infections, and
also tooth decay, and is better than toothpaste.
One teaspoon of 3% peroxide is equivalent to about 12 drops of
35% peroxide. Be careful handling 35% hydrogen peroxide, flush
any accidental spills on clothes or skin immediately with water or
immerse in water. With vaginal thrush douche twice daily with
suitably diluted hydrogen peroxide, keep it inside for some time,
and follow up by applying some probiotic.
56
Healthy body cells as well as acidophilus bacteria are not normally
harmed by oxygen therapy. In fact acidophilus bacteria produce
hydrogen peroxide to destroy Candida and other fungi. You may
see: www.oxygenhealth.com/index2.html for more information on
oxygen therapies.
Electronic Zapper
There are two basic types of electronic zappers commercially
available, the Hulda Clark zapper and the Robert Beck zapper or
blood purifier. In addition there are many newer variations of these
two basic types. They help eliminating parasites, bacteria, fungi
and viruses from the blood and lymph system with low-voltage
pulsed electric currents.
The Clark zapper operates with 9 V positive offset current at a high
pulse frequency of about 30,000 Hz. The normal treatment
schedule is seven minutes three times daily with the second
zapping 20 minutes after the first one and the third one after a
similar interval.
The Beck zapper or blood purifier uses 27 to 36 V and a low
frequency of about 4 Hz. The blood purifier appears to be
preferable to clean the blood with the small electrodes fastened
directly over the arteries where you feel a pulse on one forearm or
near the ankle of a foot. Use it for several months for 2 hours daily.
For sources to buy a zapper see the Internet and alternative
journals. Commonly, the Beck zapper is bi-functional and may also
be used as a colloidal silver maker.
Urine Therapy
Many individuals have found urine therapy effective against
Candida, parasites, intestinal inflammations and Leaky Gut
Syndrome.
In its simplest form you may mix a few drop of your urine with a
tablespoonful of water and shake this in a small bottle or jar about
57
30 times with a strong downward movement. Keep part of this in
the mouth for several minutes to improve immune functions and
reduce allergic reactions. In difficult conditions this may be
repeated every two hours. Also you may drink a cup or glassful of
fresh morning urine to improve bowel functions and reduce
Candida activity.
Keeping a small amount of freshly diluted or homoeopathically
potentised urine in the mouth or under the tongue can stimulate
the immune system to attack Candida infestations in the blood or
tissues. But this may not be sufficient to sanitise the intestinal tract
and overcome Leaky Gut Syndrome.
To clean the intestinal tract you need to cut off the food and energy
supply for Candida, and make its life difficult with high amounts of
ammonia and urea. This means that you may drink a small glass
of urine, preferably fresh, 4 or 5 times during the day, while having
only small amounts of food that is low in carbohydrates as outlined
in Chapter 4.
An even more drastic method is a complete urine fast for a week
or two. For more information see Urine and Urea Therapy at
www.health-science-spirit.com/urine.htm.

Chapter 8

OTHER FUNGUS PROBLEMS

Fungus infestations of the skin, nails, mouth and sexual organs are
usually indicative of Candida overgrowth in the gastro-intestinal
tract and possibly systemic Candidiasis in the rest of the body. In
addition to the intestinal and systemic treatment described above
also use local therapy.
All of the microbicides mentioned in chapters 6 and 7 are also
suitable for external application. As the fungus largely lives inside
the skin or under the nails, it is not sufficient just to rub these
remedies on; instead they need to soak into the skin or under the
nails.
For skin problems use a pack of some cloth soaked in the selected
remedy, cover with plastic and hold in place with tape, renew once
or twice daily or whenever it feels dry. Generally watery extracts
are good for rinsing and washing the area while oils, such as tea
tree oil are better and longer-lasting as packs. In addition it is good
to frequently use coconut oil as a body rub.
Nails may be soaked by putting olive leaf liquid, colloidal silver,
diluted Lugol’s solution, hydrogen peroxide, or urine into a cut-off
finger of a rubber or plastic glove, and sealing the open end with
tape. Another possibility is to use DMSO, a commercial solvent, to
carry a fungicide through or around the nail to the fungus
infestation. You may also soak affected toes or nails in a small
bowl with kerosene, turpentine, tea tree oil or eucalyptus oil mixed
with an equal amount of olive oil.
Very effective is a small bowl with several drops of MMS and a
59
strong solution of citric acid to develop chlorine dioxide gas. Do not
dilute with water but rather keep the affected toes or nails inside
the bowl without touching the liquid, and cover it all with some
plastic to prevent the gas from escaping. Stop the treatment when
it starts burning.
With oral thrush use the oral absorption method or the mouthwash
as explained for MMS in Chapter 6. Alternatively you may
frequently rinse and gargle with colloidal silver, diluted hydrogen
peroxide or diluted tincture of propolis, garlic, or a strong anti-
microbial tea. You may also use kerosene, turpentine, ti-tree or
neem oil diluted with one or two parts of olive oil.
With vaginal thrush frequently douche with the above, and also
insert a tampon or sponge soaked in these. Afterwards insert
some acidophilus culture. Keep the outside dry, the same for
fungus problems of the penis.
Strong itching on any part of the body may be relieved by
exposure to blue light, for instance by covering the affected part
with blue cellophane and exposing it to daylight or electric light. In
addition rub some diluted bicarbonate onto itching skin.
Asthma and other breathing problems get worse when exposed to
moulds in the air. Often the filling of the pillow is mouldy and
contributes to breathing problems during the night. If you live in a
sunny climate you may frequently expose the pillow to sunlight,
alternatively use an allergy-proof pillow-case.
Breathing difficulties may also be due to fungi growing on the
surface of the lungs. Try spraying a solution of sodium ascorbate
(3 to 10%), colloidal silver, 3% hydrogen peroxide, or dissolved
olive leaf or pau d'arco extract into the mouth, while at the same
time taking a deep breath. Use one for several days and then
another; see what works best for you.
Another possibility is to frequently sniff up the fumes from an open
60
bottle of tea tree oil or eucalyptus oil, close one nostril and then the
other. This may also help with sinus problems.
Chronic sinus problems are commonly due to moulds in
combination with lactose overload. You may sniff up colloidal
silver, diluted hydrogen peroxide, salty warm water or another
diluted fungicide through each nostril and then spit it out.
Allergy Testing
Leaky gut syndrome (LGS) is due to the deterioration of the
intestinal wall caused by burrowing or rhizoid fungal forms as well
as by gluten and chronic inflammation due to other microbes and
parasites. This lets only partly digested proteins pass into the
bloodstream and causes severe immune reactions with multiple
allergies and chronic diseases.
Common Candida-related allergy symptoms are gas, migraines,
bloating, cramps, diarrhoea, skin rashes, hives and other rashes,
blurred vision, rhinitis and difficulty breathing.
In many cases these problems may simply disappear after
Intestinal Sanitation and Systemic Candida Therapy, especially if
combined with a low-allergy diet. In other cases it is advisable to
do some food allergy testing with an elimination diet.
For several days you adopt a very restricted diet, for instance by
just using a small range of cooked and raw vegetables. Then you
start adding individual test foods or small groups of food items,
while at the same time checking your pulse rate and observing
your body and mind for any undesirable symptoms.
Check your pulse for a full minute before meals and 30, 60 and 90
minutes afterwards. An allergy response commonly increase the
pulse rate after the meal by more than 10%, distressing symptoms
may arise at the same time. Keep a detailed record of your tests.
After several months of avoiding offending foods reactions rend to
diminish and you may test again. Also, the same food may cause
61
an allergic reaction when the body is too acid but it may not cause
a problem when the lymph system is sufficiently alkaline.
Alkalizing the Body
When our body becomes more acid then it also becomes more
sensitive - emotionally as well as physically. The skin and the
mucous membranes become very sensitive to irritants, any allergic
reactions are greatly intensified, and inflammations may be intense
and widespread. With Candida and especially with leaky gut
syndrome the body generally is too acid, and it is beneficial to
alkalize it.
The strongest alkalizing foods are spirulina, barley and wheat-
grass powder, fresh green vegetable juices and vegetable broth,
e.g. the broth of boiled potato peelings. Those who are over-acid
may become even more so with cider vinegar, kefir and fruit acids.
However, dissolving dolomite, magnesium oxide or eggshell
powder in vinegar or lemon juice until nearly neutral produces a
highly alkalizing remedy. For quick neutralization also sodium
bicarbonate or potassium bicarbonate may be used to neutralize
acid fruit juices and alkalize the body. On the other hand for those
with raised blood pressure and insensitive skin, acid fruits and their
juices are excellent.
During acute allergic reactions it is advisable to alkalize the body
quickly. Repeatedly take a teaspoonful of baking soda with plenty
of water, best before breakfast or during the reaction. However,
oxides, carbonates and bicarbonates if taken with meals neutralize
our stomach acid.
For frequent use it is preferable to use neutralized fruit acids. The
strongest of these is potassium citrate, followed by magnesium
and calcium citrate. If available from a health shop, you may just
use half a teaspoon of one or several of these in a drink before or
between meals. With muscle weakness it is best to neutralize
62
malic acid with magnesium oxide or carbonate.
Alternatively, add a teaspoon of dolomite, magnesium oxide or
eggshell powder to any acid fruit juice (e.g. lemon, orange) and let
it react for up to an hour before decanting and drinking. In this way
sensitive individuals can enjoy citrus fruit and other acid fruits and
their juices, which otherwise may cause over-acidity problems.
Take so much alkalizer that your urine during the day is mostly
above pH 7 or slightly alkaline (pH 7 is neutral). To check your
urine you may buy pH papers with a range from about 4 or 5 to 8
or 9 (see the Internet for suppliers).
Instead of using pH strips you may use the yellow turmeric
powder. Dissolve a teaspoon of it in half a litre of methanol, shake
and let it settle to produce a yellow solution. However, in an
alkaline solution it becomes a ruby red, it turns colour at a pH of
6.8. To make a test, pour some of the yellow solution into a small
glass. Add a few drops of urine or saliva; if it turns red then what
was added had a pH greater than 6.8, if it stays yellow then the pH
of the urine or saliva was acid and less than 6.8.
How to use Sodium Bicarbonate: Take at least ½ hour before a
meal or 2 to 3 hours after a meal, up to 1 rounded teaspoon 3
times daily. You may also add 1 teaspoon each of sodium
bicarbonate and psyllium hulls to a large glass of water, stir and
drink immediately, best soon after rising.
Potassium Citrate: Mix half a level teaspoon up to three times daily
with meals or drinks.
Acetaldehyde
Much of the harm done by Candida comes from its metabolic
waste product acetaldehyde. This is a common by-product of
sugar and alcoholic fermentation. It cannot easily be removed and
therefore accumulates in the brain, spinal cord, joints, muscles and
tissues to affect the metabolic, neurological, endocrine, and
63
immune systems. It may, for instance, interfere with the
acetylcholine receptors in the brain and so cause mental and
neurological problems.
Acetaldehyde, in addition to Candida-produced tartaric acid,
accumulates in tissues and is responsible for muscle weakness,
irritation, and pain. Aldehydes are commonly used as fragrances in
perfumes. These are not made from flowers but from synthetic
chemicals and strongly affect individuals with Candida.
Non-acidified sodium chlorite (MMS) as explained in Chapter 6
helps to oxidize acetaldehyde to vinegar or acetic acid, which can
then be used by the body to produce energy. Also helpful for this
oxidation is the mineral molybdenum.
Molybdenum is required for the sulphur metabolism. Individuals
deficient in molybdenum tend to be sensitive to sulphites as used
to preserve wine and dried fruit. Additional vitamins required to
detoxify acetaldehyde are niacinamide and vitamin B2 (riboflavin),
amounts in a B-complex tablet should be sufficient.
A common supplemental amount of molybdenum is 500 mcg per
day or until symptoms have disappeared. A good diet should
average about 100 mcg of molybdenum, the best food sources are
legumes, green vegetables and liver. Molybdenum in supplement
form is somewhat difficult to obtain, and you may need to search
on the Internet.
Mercury
Mercury intensifies all the problems caused by Candida, especially
causing overactivity of the immune system, and greatly affecting
the brain, nervous system, thyroid and heart functions.
Use oral chelation to remove mercury, lead and aluminium.
Sulphur compounds are needed to detoxify the liver. If these are
not well tolerated, add a molybdenum supplement. One of the
strongest chelators is alpha lipoic acid (also called thioctic acid),
64
best combined with milk thistle extract. Chlorella (cell broken
powder) prevents re-absorption of expelled metals from the
intestines. Also helpful are MSM, N-acetylcysteine, alpha-
tocopherol, and sodium ascorbate. You may also add other
mercury chelators obtained from the Internet or use the
Klinghardt Neurotoxin Elimination Protocol.
See: http://www.hbci.com/~wenonah/new/9steps.htm, or the simpler
Cutler Protocol version found at http://gesundohnepillen.de/cutler.pdf
and http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/.
The Cutler Protocol uses alpha lipoic acid which can cross the
blood-brain barrier and pull mercury out of brain and nerve cells.
Lipoic acid is taken for 3 days and 2 nights every 3 hours during
the day and every 4 hours during the night, and this is repeated
once a week or fortnight. Each dose may be from one quarter to 1
mg/kg body weight.
Start with a low dose and gradually increase with subsequent
cleanses. During detoxification health problems may temporarily
increase. Therefore it is recommended to start a mercury chelation
program only when any Candida or fungal problems are under
control as these would aggravate any mercury detox reactions.
Proteolytic Enzymes
Candida and other fungi and mycoplasmas tend to cause chronic
and generalised inflammations in the body. Inflammation causes
overacidity, pain, hypercoagulation, and other problems. In
addition to alkalising and anti-inflammatory herbs, proteolytic
enzymes are very helpful. These break down and remove protein
residues which stimulate inflammation, and congest blood vessels
and the lymph system. With this proteolytic enzymes greatly
improve blood circulation, and are effective pain relievers.
Fibrin is a sticky protein fiber. It naturally cross-links to form blood
clots for sealing wounds to stop bleeding but fibrin also starts
cross-linking when non-bleeding inflammations are present.
65
Candida and other microbes can form biofilms by covering
themselves with protective layers of fibrin, calcium and mucous.
Nattokinase originally derived from natto, a fermented soy product
traditionally used in Japan, is most effective. It is commonly
available as capsules with 2000 FU or units of fibrinolytic activity.
The normal maintenance dose is one capsule each before
breakfast and dinner, best in a non-protein drink or followed by
some fruit.
However, to clean already clogged up blood vessels and dissolve
clots a high dose of up to 12 spaced-out capsules may be used for
some months or until the blood circulation is sufficiently improved.
In a high dose it may be used as 2 or 3 capsules 3 or 4 times daily
before meals and bedtime.
Serrapeptase originally derived from silkworms, may be less
effective in dissolving clots but also dissolves other dead tissue,
such as scar tissue, adhesions and cysts. Commonly 20,000 to
80,000 units may be in a capsule, the maximum dose may be up
to 400,000 per day.
Bromelain breaks down all kinds of unwanted protein residues.
Activity tends to me measured as Gelatine Dissolving Units or
GDU, commonly 2000 GDU/gram. Take up to 6000 GDU daily in
divided dose in a drink on an empty stomach, preferably
separately from nattokinase and serrapeptase which may be taken
together.
Individuals with blood-clotting disorders leading to excessive
bleeding are commonly warned not to use nattokinase or
serrapeptase; also medical blood-thinning drugs such as warfarin
require caution when using fibrinolytic agents.
See http://old.cnmwellness.com/art_nattokinase-11-08.pdf for a
good article on nattokinase.

Alternative Oxygen Supply
Our main oxygen distribution is with the haemoglobin in red blood
cells. A main problem with it is that oxygen is released into the
tissues only in response to the presence of carbon dioxide as
generated with the aerobic energy metabolism through muscle or
brain activity.
With Candida, fungi and other myco-microbes we have an
anaerobic metabolism in parts of the brain and muscles. Also
cancer cells have an anaerobic metabolism. Anaerobic cells do not
produce carbon dioxide, and therefore do not get sufficient oxygen
from the normal blood circulation. This makes it highly beneficial
with all low-energy conditions to supply additional oxygen without
the need for carbon dioxide to release oxygen.
Best suited for supplementation are vitamin C and MSM. These
form reduction-oxidation or redox pairs. One such pair is vitamin C
(ascorbic acid or ascorbate) as the reduced form and
dehydroascorbic acid or DHA as the oxidized form. Another one is
DMSO (dimethylsulfoxide) as the reduced form and MSM as the
oxidized one.
In an oxygen deficient environment such as a cell with anaerobic
metabolism a redox pair changes from their oxidized state to their
reduced form by giving off one atom of highly reactive oxygen.
When vitamin C or DMSO return to the circulation and flow with
the blood through the lungs they are again being converted to their
oxidized forms. This is the normal way in which vitamin C gets into
the brain and most other cells. Vitamin C cannot enter directly, it
only gets inside cells as DHA. Inside the cell it is then reduced by
liberating oxygen. The oxygen released in this way is initially highly
reactive and has been shown to kill the microbes inside the cells
that caused this blockage, and then re-start the blocked oxidative
energy metabolism.

67
Furthermore, while vitamin C is known to be a good treatment for
viral infections, recent research has shown that it is actually DHA
that is the effective antimicrobial remedy, up to one thousand times
stronger than the reduced form of vitamin C.
Individuals with iron overload problems, mainly the elderly and those
with haemochromatosis may be reluctant to use vitamin C because
of medical advice that it may increase iron absorption. However, this
applies only to low doses of vitamin C. From a biochemical
perspective, iron overload is a problem of the redox balance with too
much iron in the oxidised ferro-form. This can easily be cured with
10 gram of spaced-out sodium ascorbate/day to normalise the
overall redox potential of the body, see Natural Therapy for
Haemochromatosis.
How to use Vitamin C and MSM: It is best to use vitamin C and
MSM together, such as up to 10 grams of sodium ascorbate or
buffered vitamin C, 10 to 20 grams of MSM, and 2 to 3 teaspoons of
50 to 70% DMSO rubbed on the skin over any problem areas.
Preferably use all of these spread out during the day but increase
amounts only gradually to minimize the possibility of diarrhoea and
other reactions, cut back if problems arise.
You may mix the powders with drink or food, or dissolve them in a
litre of water or juice, and frequently sip during the day. If there are
indications that you are too acidic and need additional alkalizers,
then you may also mix sodium bicarbonate and/or potassium citrate
with the same drink.
In addition to a vitamin B complex, use about 500 mg of niacinamide
with breakfast and lunch because vitamin B3 is needed as the main
coenzyme for these energy-producing redox reactions. Niacinamide
is also an effective anti-inflammatory agent.
Basically I regard this alternative oxygen supply mechanism as
being helpful and desirable in all conditions of low energy, Candia-

68
related conditions, cancer, autoimmune diseases, as well as chronic
and infectious diseases in general.
CONTINUED VIGILANCE
While this program may be successful within a few months to
eliminate most problems due to Candida and other microbial and
parasitic infestations, this is not a permanent victory. From time to
time we may again experience re-infestation due to external
influences, especially when our defences are down.
In addition, Candida and many viruses leave spores and other
dormant forms behind, which may again become active and start to
multiply when the conditions are right. This may happen due to
persistent over-acidity, vitamin or mineral deficiencies, emotional
stress, accumulation of toxins as from drugs, pesticides or other
chemicals and pollution, chronic inflammation, dead teeth, a viral or
bacterial infection or a weakened immune system.
Therefore keep up with a low-key antifungal maintenance program
more or less indefinitely, and repeat a shorter and simplified version
of a more intensive program once a year, and whenever you notice
any re-emergence of your original problems.

To keep your Candida permanently under control, and spores and

any viruses dormant for good, adopt a healthy lifestyle by following
the Health Improvement Program as explained in Towards Radiant
Health.

SUMMARY

You do not need to be too concerned with diagnostic methods to

establish whether or not you have Candida. If you have a chronic
health problem of any kind you can just assume that Candida
therapy is likely to be beneficial for you. I also recommend for
everyone to have an anti-microbial cure once a year to keep the
body free of Candida and other pathogenic microbes and
parasites.
When doing this for the first time, or when you do have obvious
Candida overgrowth, then use the full sequence with Anti-Candida
Diet, Intestinal Sanitation and several months of Systemic Candida
Therapy. Follow this with a maintenance program consisting of a
milder version of the systemic program. If there is no infection-
related health problem then in subsequent years you may just use
three to four weeks of systemic anti-microbials in combination with
probiotics and prebiotics.
The anti-Candida diet is low in simple carbohydrates and foods
that tend to cause allergies or food sensitivities. It also avoids
foods that may contain moulds or fungi. Intestinal Sanitation
consists of taking crushed garlic together with Epsom salts or
magnesium chloride and psyllium, followed 30 to 60 minutes later
by a large dose of probiotics. A 2-months hydrogen peroxide
therapy is very effective for many intestinal problems.
During Systemic Candida Therapy, alternate using strong anti-
microbials, such as iodine solution, MMS, olive leaf, pau d’arco or
wormwood. Preferably take, garlic, and other supportive anti-
microbials in addition. Controversial but very effective are low-
odour kerosene and gum turpentine.
Don't let the antibiotic syndrome creep up on you. Always try
natural alternatives in preference to antibiotics, but if you feel that
they are really necessary protect yourself by taking natural
fungicides or microbicides in addition.
