SCENE 1. Child's bedroom. Night time.

(ACTORS 1, 3 and 4 dressed in black enter tip-toeing. They lift the sheet covering the child from both
ends. The white sheet looks as if it's floating over the CHILD. CHILD starts turning around in her sleep.
Actors "float" the sheet off stage. They re-enter immediately, caring the sheet so that it's stretched forming
a screen. "Twinkle, twinkle, little star" starts to get drowned out by Mozart's music. Mozart's portrait is
projected onto the screen-sheet. Actors travel the sheet towards the CHILD's bed and drop it. The sheet
lands onto a figure that has been hiding behind it. The actor reveals himself from under the sheet. CHILD
jumps up, terrified.)
CHILD
who are you?

MOZART
Who am I? I am Wolfgang!

CHILD
Wolfgang who?

MOZART
Wolfgang who do you think?!

CHILD
(scratches her head)
Wolfgang... Amadeus... Mozart..?

MOZART
yes!
(High fives CHILD)
(Awkward pause.)

MOZART
I know you think we've got nothing in common... But guess what... I love dogs, just like you! In fact I used
to have two of them!

CHILD
oh...

MOZART
you know what else?

CHILD
what?

MOZART
I hope one day we will have one more thing in common. I hope one day you will love music, too.

CHILD
Oh I think let's keep it at dogs! I hate music more than anything.
(MOZART sighs. CHILD feels a tinge of conscience.)

CHILD
Why do you care anyway?

MOZART
Oh I care very much. My music only lives on because of you. Little kids like you grow up to become
musicians and my hope is that they like my music enough to keep playing it. It means a lot to me...

CHILD
Well... good luck!

(CHILD throws herself back into bed and covers her head with a blanket. DOG tries to uncover the
CHILD.)

CHILD
Can't you leave me hate music in peace?

MOZART
I don't think you hate it... I think you just... don't understand it.

CHILD
There is nothing to understand! It's BORING!!!

(MOZART gasps. A gush of wind is heard, curtains raise up as if blown by the wind. Stage lights up in
magical blue and pink. INSPIRATION enters. She looks majestic and menacing all at once. MOZART
looks both in love and terrified.)

SCENE 2:

CHILD
Don't tell me math has a rhythm, too.

MOZART
Yes and more than that! What is your favorite song?

CHILD
Hmmm... Yellow Submarine!

MOZART
Great! It was not very popular in my times, but I do understand the fascination.

MOZART goes to the piano and starts playing the theme of Yellow Submarine.

MOZART
The arrangement of notes is not random! It has a mathematical principal. Musicians play in measures,
rhythm itself is just like a mathematical pattern!

MOZART plays some more of the Yellow Submarine, while projections "mirror" the music counting out
measures and matching the music by means of visual patterns. MOZART stops playing goes downstage.

MOZART
(addressing the audience)
Children, would you help me out? Let's clap together following the number pattern!

Numbers light up on the backdrop and the sound of metronome is heard following the rhythm of Yellow
Submarine:
1,2,3,4
1,2,3,4
etc

MOZART claps along as numbers appear showing the audience how to do it. MOZART goes back to the
piano and starts playing again following the rhythm.

MOZART
It's a math pattern! Isn't it fascinating?

(laughs happily, stops playing, sighs and pauses, then jumps with excitement again)

MOZART
But that's not all! Math has a symmetry and harmony. Math can be beautiful, just like... music.

CHILD
You mean boring, just like music.

MOZART
Watch.
(MOZART makes a conducting gesture again and his music fades in. MOZART makes gestures in the air
as if he is writing. NUMBER PROJECTIONS FOLLOW TO THE MUSIC while MOZART says)

MOZART
Numbers have an agreement between themselves, just like musical notes.

Number projections are as follows:

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 (nine is bigger or highlighted in the projection.)

1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9=45
4+5=9

Number NINE gets highlighted a different color in the PROJECTION, the three 9s become bigger and float
to the center, while other numbers disappear:
9+9+9=27,
2+7=9.
Nine gets flipped over and becomes a six.
Another nine appears:
9+6=15
1+5=6

Six flips again and turns into a 9. The nine turns into a note and multiplies, the notes move to the Music.
(CHILD looks interested.)
CHILD
This seems pretty cool.

MOZART
See, numbers can be your friends, just like music... If you understand them.

(ACTORS playing children exit with the TEACHER. CHILD walks Center stage, MOZART stays
somewhat upstage from CHILD, he makes a conducting gesture again.)

CHILD
On my way home from school,
(to MOZART, irritated)
Mozart's music was playing in my ears!

MOZART
All I want is... for you to SEE the world with your... EARS!

(The backdrop lights up with a projection of beautiful colors. What follows are images of )(everyday life,
nature, space - all laid out to the music. CHILD keeps watching as if seeing life through music for the first
time. Life seems so much more grand and beautiful to Mozart’s music. CHILD is visibly touched.)

CHILD
THAT'S how you see the world?!

MOZART
Yes! And you can, too!

(Lights and music fade.)
