An element of art I show in my art piece is color, (example; a healthy jaw represented by
orange, a rosy complexion for the cheek bones, purple for the creativity coming from the mind,
brown for organic compounds that comes from within), as well as a feeling of aliveness in
something that is usually a symbol for death using juxtaposition. Another element of art I show
is lines because the direction the line makes determines how the flowers were formed to show
the skull. I started out with no ideas on how to put two images together since my artist himself
had trouble doing this. Then I forced myself to have versatility and I decided to pay tribute to his
art by taking the two objects he paints the most, (skulls and flowers), and blending them
together. My artist is Octavio Ocampo, a Mexican surrealist painter who paints optical illusion
paintings that depict two or more objects from the viewpoints at which you look at it. This artist is
important to me because he shares my ethnicity and also a few of my personal beliefs. Thus, I
feel a connection through his art.
