STEP-1: Gather People

Shift Incharge / Supervisor shall ensure that all staff involved in the task
or activity is present in the Tool Box Talk.
STEP-2: Brief People
• Shift In charge / Supervisor shall check Employees’ Safety Instruction
Card of each employee and ensure that it is read by him to the entire
gang/team.
• Shift In charge / Supervisor shall brief the participants of the job or
activity to be executed.
• Shall brief the participants of the hazards and associated risks with
the task or activity. For possible topics and associated hazards refer to
Next Slide.
• Shall brief the controls to be implemented to eliminate the hazards
and to minimize the risks at ALARP Level as identified.
• Shall brief the mandatory usage of PPEs and SPEs during the job.
• Shall brief the SOPs / Work Instruction for the execution of job.
Possible Hazards & their Control
Step-3: Involve People

• Shift In charge / Supervisor shall involve and discuss with the


participants their feedback.
• Shall invite suggestions for improvement of safety while performing
the task/activity.
• Shall use the local language for better understanding of the
participants.
Step-4: Checking and Corrective Actions

• Shift In charge / Supervisor shall check and verify that all required
tools, PPEs, SPEs are available, appropriate and fit for purpose.
• Shall ensure that all persons are competent, aware of the task,
understand their roles and responsibilities and familiar with the
hazards and controls to be implemented.
Step-5: On site Tool Box Talk

• TBT shall be conducted verbally at actual site of work by the team /


gang In charge.
• Shall ensure all controls identified are implemented correctly.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF SUPERVISOR
Supervisor shall brief the following to field staff before start of work:

Description of job / activity to be performed or executed.


SOPs / work instructions, possible hazards, associated risks & controls with the
task / activity.
Shall involve and discuss with the participants their feedback & invite
suggestions for improvement of safety.
Mandatory PPEs – Availability, Verified and Usage.
Shall ensure that all field workers are competent, aware of the task; understand
their roles / responsibilities.
Employee supervising or directing the work will be held responsible for
enforcement & is authorized to hold off part or all the work until all the hazards
are mitigated.
To attend any fault both Rubber and leather gloves shall be worn on both
hands.
Karkun / helper shall not be allowed in any case to work as a line man.
 HT & LT short & ground to be ensured by the supervisor.
