LBS Career Center Workshop

October 29, 9:00-16:30

NO COST, fits your schedule!

Doing the deal. Negotiations in professional life.

No matter if you’re trying to convince your boss to give you a pay raise, if you’re brokering the
merger of two departments within your organization or if you’re busy repairing a multilateral
nuclear agreement: the principles of negotiation are simple, but negotiating is hard – and can
only be learned by practicing.

In this one-day workshop you will focus on the importance of negotiation preparation, you
will find out about the principles of negotiation psychology, strategy and tactics, you will
identify and work with different negotiation cultures, and — above all — you will experience
and act in integrative and distributive negotiation situations.

Mag. Daniela Musiol

has been a member of the Austrian Parliament from 2008 to 2016. Not only has she
negotiated numerous acts of legislation ranging from setting up a new Administrative Court
system to implementing more efficient direct-democracy tools to improving the professional
situation of nursery school teachers, she was also an integral part of the team negotiating the
Social democratic party–Green party coalition agreement in Vienna in 2010. She’s also a
lawyer, mediator, coach and social worker and has been teaching at LBS since 2016.

Mag. Thomas Geldmacher

is a political scientist and mediator and has been working as a political analyst, consultant
and journalist since 2002. In 2012, in his capacity as chairman of the workers’ council with
the parliamentary faction of the Austrian Green party, he negotiated the works agreement
with the party management. He has been teaching at LBS since 2016.
