ABSTRACT

Fly ash is generated in large quantities especially by thermal power plants. A lot of research has
been carried out for effective utilization of fly ash in building industry. In this study, the
experimental investigation was carried out to find the optimum mix percentage of fly ash and stone
dust. The aim of the present study is to investigate the Characterization of stone dust and stabilizer
like cement and to study the compressive strength of block. However the brick specimen of size
400mm x 200mm x 150mm were cast for different mix percentage of Fly ash (20,30,40%), Stone
Dust (20,30,35%), Cement (5,10,20%) and Jelly (30,40%), compressive strength were studied for
different mix proportions. The results shows the variation of compressive strength for different
mix proportions of materials mentioned earlier at different curing ages. From the results it was
inferred that, the maximum optimized compressive strength is obtained for optimal mix percentage
of Flyash-20% Stone Dust-30% Cement-20% Jelly-30%.
