Kiley Lafortune Dream Job September 6, 2018

My dream job is a Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The job description of a CEO,
according to O*Net Online, is to organize, plan, and supervise all activities and operations within
the business or corporation. CEO’s are responsible for the day-to- day operations while reporting
to the Board of Directors (O*Net Online, n.d.).
It is not required that a person must have a college degree to become a chief executive
officer. However, it is beneficial for one to get a degree from a college or university, as the CEO
would be more successful with the knowledge learned from schooling. Most people holding a
CEO position have an MBA in some sort of business (Investopedia, n.d.). According to BLS, the
mean hourly rate for a CEO is $ 94.25, which comes out to be a mean annual salary of $196, 050
(BLS, n.d.). The annual salary for a CEO is high among other positions in the business field. The
highest level of education, such as a bachelor’s degree or an MBA would become an asset if I
were a CEO. It would help me to move up the corporate ladder if I wanted to because I would
have more experience and knowledge than just the average education level that others may have.
Taking Management and Accounting courses now gives me a cutting edge feel for what the
duties of the business management field looks like. I am ahead of the curve and will be able to
have a path of deciding what position in the management spectrum I want to go into. Some of the
most prestigious, successful CEO’s had a path that involved having several positions within one
organization or several to gain the knowledge they needed to reach the point of CEO (Business
Wire, 2016). Thus, I also will be able to work in several areas of the a company if I choose to
gain more knowledge to become a successful, leader, as well as a CEO.
Monthly, I will most likely have to pay back student loans, so an account will be set up
with a bank and I will choose the most affordable way to pay off the debt with the income I
would receive as a CEO. I don’t know where I will be living but, if I do live in a condo or a
house I will have to set aside money for unexpected fees, fixing broken things etc. To do so, I
will limit the amount of times that I go out to eat each month, I will shop when there are sales on
the clothes/ accessories I need, and even though a CEO has a very high pay, I will cautiously
spend money on things that I want. Needed items will be bought using a financial standpoint
mindset so that I can have money for the necessary items in life.
