Greetings to all fellow-students:
We should again draw your attention to the format of
the lessons and remind all students that the Sabbath
School lesson should be studied each day. For this reason
the lessons are divided into five sections, usually of two
questions. There is a box to be checked daily as each part
of the lesson is studied. These cover the first five days,
Sunday to Thursday. Friday is suggested as a day to
review the whole lesson studied. The questions are
provided to help the individual in his private review of
the lesson. These questions have nothing to do with the
regular Review of the previous lesson that precedes the
Lesson Study in the classes on the Sabbath day, except
as they may be relevant to the ideas brought out by the
one taking the Review.
The Thought Questions are personal questions and not
necessarily ones that should be answered in public.
Some general discussion around them may be beneficial.
It should be always kept in mind by teachers and
students alike, that unless the lessons relate to the per-
sonal life in such a way as to effect beneficial changes,
they are of little value. Head knowledge alone will not
save us.

FOREWORD
"Behold I come quickly." This statement is so familiar that

unfortunately it is losing its impact with us as a people. It is
beneficial at all times to review the promises of God, especially
as they relate to the closing events that are drawing ever nearer
with each passing day. World events almost force us to this con-
clusion and we should be well aware of their significance.
The series of lessons for this quarter continues those of the
last quarter and deal with the latter part of the same topic. It is
hoped that all will benefit from the review of events which may
very soon involve everyone, on one side or the other.
A warning needs to be repeated over and over, that it is not
only the intellectual knowledge that we may have, but what we
believe in our hearts that counts. The tongue can easily make
great professions, but the life and actions reveal what is the true
belief of the heart. "Ye shall know them by their fruits"
(Matthew 7:16).
The gQspel is to be preached to all the world (Matthew
24:14) and many will never listen to preaching or Bible studies.
The actions, or what is believed in the heart of the believer may
be the only gospel that many will ever read. What kind of
witness is given by our lives? Is it very evident that we are really
expecting His return very soon? What conclusion do our
neighbors and friends make when they see our horries and hear
our plans? What do we really believe in our hearts?
May the Lord help every student to buy up the opportunity
to review what is believed in the heart so that we may be sure
that we are giving a faithful witness, and also that we can give a
simple, accurate and sensible answer and reason for the hope
that we have, that others may be prepared before it is too late.

Barriers Between Believers Eliminated o Sunday

December 28
1. If the prayer of Christ is truly fulfilled in the lives of church members,
what partisan declarations will never be heard in their midst? 1 Cor-
inthians 1: 12, 13.
NOTE: " ... The people of God will draw together and present to the enemy
a united front. In view of the common peril, strife for supremacy will cease;
there will be no disputing as to who shall be accounted greatest. No one of the
true believers will say: 'I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas.' The
testimony of one and all will be: 'I cleave unto Christ; I rejoice in Him as my

2. How does the partisan spirit contrast with the good example set by
the apostolic church in the beginning? Acts 4:32, 33.

3. What is the intent ofthe promise of God concerning the "former rain"
and the "latter rain"? Jeremiah 5:24.
NOTE: " ... Under the figure of the early and the latter rain, that falls in
Eastern lands at seedtime and harvest, the Hebrew prophets foretold the
bestowal of spiritual grace in extraordinary measure upon God's church. The
outpouring of the Spirit in the days of the apostles was the beginning of the

1. How wonderful will the power of the Holy Spirit be in those who
receive Him, and what limitations did the Lord set? Matthew 21:21.
NOTE: "Miracles will be wrought, the sick will be healed, and signs and

2. What wonderful comparison was used to impress the disciples with

what to expect? John 14: 12.
NOTE: "In visions of the night, representations passed before me of a great

reformatory movement among God's people. Many were praising God. The

the Lord, will come, to give power to the loud voice of the third angel, and
prepare the saints to stand in the period when the seven last plagues shall be

7. To prepare the fruit of the Lord's vineyard, what is needed just prior

not hunger and thirst for the gift of the Spirit? Why do we not talk of it, pray

Spirit to those who serve Him than parents are to give good gifts to their

10. To whom did Jesus say that our Heavenly Father would willingly give

Scope of the Final Work o Sunday

January 18
1. What did Jesus say was the scope of the final work to be done in the
world? Matthew 24: 14.
NOTE: "The vineyard includes the whole world, and every part of it is to be

"When the members of the church of God do their appointed work in the
needy fields at home and abroad, in fulfillment of the gospel commission, the
whole world will soon be warned and the Lord Jesus will return to this earth

2. As the remnant will be few in number, how will the final work be ac-
complished, and what may we know of it? Romans 9:28.
NOTE: "At the commencement of the time of trouble, we were filled with the

"Thus the message of the third angel will be proclaimed. As the time
comes for it to be given with greatest power, the Lord will work through

3. What specific prophecy concerning the proclamation of the third
angel has yet to be fulfilled, and when was a beginning seen? Revela-
tion 14:9.
NOTE: "The time of test is just upon us, for the loud cry of the third angel
has already begun in the revelation of the righteousness of Christ, the sin-
pardoning Redeemer. This is the beginning of the light cif the angel whose

7. When the people of God have responded to the call of God to separate
from the world and the churches that haHl allowed the world to enter
them, what message must they give, and to whom especially? Isaiah

I saw that God has honest children among the nominal Adventists and
the fallen churches, and before the plagues shall be poured out, ministers and

A SOLEMN WARNING
KEY TEXT: "Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of
Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them
